Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Mishu of Blue Ridge Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Mishu.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Blue Ridge Yoga was born from a dream—
A vision of a yoga studio that was inclusive, welcoming, and rooted in community. I wanted to create a space where everyone felt accepted, supported, and inspired—not just in their practice, but in their lives. From the beginning, giving back was woven into our mission. I believed then, as I do now, that wellness should ripple outward to support the growth and strength of the entire community.
After spending over a decade immersed in the yoga world, I saw where I could offer something different. I wanted to create a space that was both grounding and uplifting—a studio that honored tradition while evolving to meet people where they are.
With the support of Knoxville and a handful of core students (some of whom are still practicing with us today!), that dream quickly took shape. Blue Ridge Yoga became more than a studio—it became a home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every small business in the U.S. faces similar challenges—navigating a shifting economy, adapting to change, and constantly evolving. But what I’ve found truly fascinating is how closely a business mirrors the growth of its owner.

For me, the role I dreamed of at the beginning only started to shift about nine years in—when I entered a deeper season of personal growth. That evolution within myself directly influenced how I wanted to show up in the business.

It’s incredible how intertwined the journey of a small business is with the self-discovery of the person behind it. As we grow, so does the vision.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Blue Ridge Yoga is more than a yoga studio.
It’s a community, a gym, a spa, and a home. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed by name and invited into a space where you can be fully yourself.
It’s a place to get strong, to relax, to reconnect—with your breath, your body, and your people. Whether you’re here for a good sweat, a peaceful reset, or a hug from a friend, you belong.
We’re proud to offer ongoing trainings, multiple international retreats each year, and fun local excursions that keep our community thriving. And this year, we’re celebrating a major milestone: $200,000 donated back to our community.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a passionate traveler and lifelong student of the world. With over 80 countries explored, my love for different cultures, landscapes, and ways of life continues to deepen. Travel inspires me, expands my perspective, and fuels my constant curiosity. I’m always dreaming of the next adventure—and the stories, connections, and magic it will bring.
