Hi Dana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Picture it, Cincinnati 1978 on a hot August night just kidding! Now the real story of me and how I got to where I am today. As a child, I grew up in Southeastern Kentucky, the oldest of three girls. My dad, still my hero today, was a self-made entrepreneur owning various businesses such as mechanic and carpet installer. Then lastly, he held a flooring store and was a full-time baptist minister for most of my life. My mom worked various jobs, but the one always consistent for her was doing taxes. She had a love for taxes as well as for helping people. So my love for numbers started at a young age.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Leaving the security of my corporate job! I didn’t know if I would have clients or make my bills. I left my job with no idea how I would make my rent for the next month. I just knew that, as my mom said, “I was a winner either way.” So I started working from home advertising my business the only way I knew how Facebook & word of mouth. I had a goal of thirty clients by the end of the first year of 2021. That first year, there were many obstacles. All those years of being a student came to my rescue as I researched and purchased the software needed for my business. Advertising was a big learning curve.
I found Thumbtack was expensive, and when the auto charges came out, let’s say some weeks were harder than others. But I refused to give up. I knew I had finally found my place and what I was destined to do. I love with my whole heart and want to care for anyone in my circle. As I decided to own my own business, I saw how much I could bring from the many different aspects of my life. And the many paths I had taken to get where I was then. I could help people in so many ways. With that being said, that is just what I do with each of my clients. My client has become more to me than just a client or friend. They become family. (and that is growing larger all the time.) When I started the business in 2021, I had a goal of thirty clients. I ended the year with over two hundred and fifty tax clients, bookkeeping clients, and grant clients.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Numbers, because I have always worked in some field that required math or numerical situations. One of my absolute favorite things to do is I love spending time with my friends and family. We have a lot of fun and interesting times at various ages. Currently, I have one niece and four nephews, ages ranging from five to twenty-two years old. They think I am the coolest person in the world, well because not only because I am, but hey, “Who else lets you make all the messes?”
When I am not working, you will find my friends and me out exploring the wonderful city that we all call home, Knoxville. It was not an easy decision to leave my small-town life behind, but it has been the most rewarding.
What is there to dislike?
My only genuine dislike is a liar. I have been told my face gives me away no matter what I think. So if I think you’re lying, you’ll see it. Besides, I dislike many foods, but I won’t bore you with those. As I always tell everyone. “Anything you want to know, just ask me, and I’ll be happy to share with you.” “I’m an open book and love to answer questions,”
