Today we’d like to introduce you to Clint Wilcox
Hi Clint , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started working for the previous distributor of BG products, Beller distributing in November 2009. When I started, i didn’t know anything about the automotive business. My first job duties where to shrink wrap products together to make kits that we sold to our customers. I rode with some of the other salesman that worked for the distributorship. I was very fortunate to be able to learn from some of the best representatives to have done the job, they were all very unique and I was able to take pieces from each one and start to develop the type of sales rep that I would eventually become. At the time, the Owner, Sales manager and all the reps worked very closely with one another to service accounts and prospect new clients.
A few months into working at Beller Distributing, one of the salesman; Nathan Truitt and I started to connect. We were both hungry and eager to grow our careers. The owner decided to team us up to run a territory. I learned a lot more about the business from Nathan and that partnership lasted about a year or so. We then each took separate territories and developed them individually. We were both successful in our right and eventually grew our territories to generate over one million dollars in revenue a piece.
Fast forward several years to October of 2024 and I had been working as a representative for about 15 years and Nathan had been around for going on 18 years or so. Rick Beller, the previous owner had laid the foundation for Nathan and I to acquire the distributorship. We took the necessary steps and took over Beller Distributing, renaming the distributorship to Impact Distributing. It has been a wild ride but one that we would not change anything about, every step of the way developed Nathan and I into who we needed to be to become distributors. We currently have four other employees and are growing. Business is great and we are just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think the road to anything meaningful is ever smooth. There were many trials and tribulations along the way: navigating the industry, certain business that comes and goes, the financial crisis of 2008, Covid. There was a lot of ups and downs. We learned early on that if you do the right things like take care of customers, be reliable and put out a quality product, you can weather about any storm.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
