Inspiring Conversations with April Thomas of Born This Way Body Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Thomas

April, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a creative at heart, drawn to the intersection of artistry, expression, and entrepreneurship. I started in the world of tattooing, body piercing and jewelry, where I built a business that wasn’t just about adornment but about helping people express their identities in meaningful ways. As my company grew, I discovered a passion for something even bigger – helping other creative entrepreneurs turn their own visions into reality.
Through trial, innovation, and plenty of lessons along the way, I learned how to build a purpose-driven, profitable business without sacrificing creativity or authenticity. By building a strong brand and team, my business gained Best of the Best notoriety in all areas. That experience fueled my mission to guide others in doing the same. Now, as a business coach, I specialize in helping entrepreneurs not only make living doing what they love but also scale their impact in a way that feels aligned with their values.
My work is more than a strategy – its about empowerment. Whether it’s through one-on-one coaching, public speaking, or sharing insights on my platforms, I help visionaries break past limitations, own their uniqueness and accelerate their journey toward success. I believe entrepreneurship should be both fulfilling and financially rewarding, and my goal is to show others how to make that a reality.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth but every challenge has shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today. As a woman in business, I have had to navigate industries where my voice wasn’t always the loudest in the room, but I learned to make sure it was heard. I’ve had to advocate for myself, push past my doubts and prove that success isn’t about fitting someone else’s mold but carving your own path.
One of the biggest hurdles was surviving the Covid shutdowns. Like many business owners, it forced me to get creative, adapt quickly, and find new ways to connect with my clients. That experience solidified one of my core beliefs that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back, it’s about evolving.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
