Hidden Gems: Meet Lindsay Matijevich of Mossy Creek Rehab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Matijevich.

Hi Lindsay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I first got into physical therapy by coming from a family of physical therapists. Both my parents are PT’s, my aunt and uncle are PT’s and I even married a PT! My husband and I attended the same physical therapy school and have been PT’s for 10 years. My father has been a PT for over 40 years and decided to open his own practice in 2010. In 2022, he decided to retire and I took over the ownership of Mossy Creek Rehab.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Becoming a business owner has been a rewarding, eye opening and humbling experience. Everyone likes the idea of being the boss until you actually have to deal with financial concerns, managing staff and minutia of keeping up with new insurance company and healthcare requirements. The healthcare landscape is always changing and private practice business owners are constantly having to adapt to keep up with large healthcare corporations. Luckily, I have had a great support system between my husband and my parents. I also have amazing and loyal staff members. I couldn’t have done this without their support.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mossy Creek Rehab?
We are a family owned, private practice physical therapy clinic that has been serving our community for 15 years. The business is co-owned by Robert and Sherry Matijevich with their daughter, Lindsay Matijevich. We pride ourselves on our one-on-one, patient centered care. We spend the entire session with each patient with direct supervision. Patients aren’t juggled by therapists 3 at time. They aren’t doing exercises by themselves while the therapist is doing documentation. We take time to spend with each patient to ensure they are getting quality care. Because we are also a local business, you aren’t just a number. Our patients are our friends, neighbors and people of our community. We strive to serve them.

How do you think about happiness?
The physical therapy field is rewarding in itself. When patients come in door, sometimes they can’t even walk. Or they can’t raise their arms. Over the course of their treatment, we get to help them achieve their goals and get back to activities they enjoy. And I get to see their joy and confidence grow. It’s incredibility rewarding and keeps you coming back to work the next day.
