Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Foreman.
Hi Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My career path has been quite an adventure. Right out of college, I began as a sales assistant at a Hilton Resort in Bloomingdale, IL. It took a little while to discover my marketing and event planning passion. Fortunately, a fantastic boss encouraged me to challenge myself and grow professionally. During our slower days, I started developing themed hotel packages to attract new and returning guests. One of my favorites was the ‘Sex & the City’ girls’ getaway, which included a penthouse event reception, shopping, a theater trip to see the new movie, and Cosmos!
Collaborating with outside vendors to improve these packages led me to my next role as a marketing manager for a brew-and-view movie theater in Naperville, IL. This job was intense but incredibly fun, involving promotions with movie celebrities and themed events around film releases. It was here that I met my husband, who also worked in the movie industry, and this connection eventually brought me to Knoxville, TN.
Moving to Knoxville was an overwhelming undertaking, as I had never lived more than a few hours away from my family and friends in Illinois. It was a giant leap, but God knew what He was doing when He led me to this beautiful city. The first few years were challenging as I adjusted to my new roles as a wife, stepmom, and someone out of work! Then, a conversation about becoming a Redfin showing agent changed everything. I thought, why not? I love homes and interior design, and you get paid per showing – how hard could it be?
I loved it so much that I decided to take the next step and become a full-time realtor. Now, I guide people through home buying and selling, bringing together all my passions—people, design, communication, and service. This job brings me immense joy, even during challenging times, because it positively affects people’s lives. And for me, there’s no better feeling.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Smooth” is not the word I would use to describe my journey—far from it! The challenges started when I moved away from my comfort zone and the loved ones I had in Illinois. I was so homesick that I joined an airline to fly for free and see my family on a whim. While that job didn’t utilize or reward my strengths, it provided the safety net I needed during that difficult transition, and I made a few lifelong friends for which I am very thankful. When I transitioned into real estate, despite my passion for helping people, the processes and inner workings were utterly foreign! The barrage of terms, rules, regulations, and tactics was overwhelming. Nevertheless, I persevered. I joined a well-known real estate team, acquired the fundamentals I needed to succeed, and was thrown right into the deep end. The pressure was only amplified by the onset of COVID-19, which sent the market into a frenzy, and I found myself working around the clock. That same year, my husband lost his job and decided to get his real estate license so we could divide and conquer together.
We then moved to a small local brokerage as a team, branding ourselves as “that couple in TN real estate.” Those two years were filled with ups and downs as we learned to work together. Despite being married for seven years by then, balancing our professional and personal lives was often challenging. We learned a lot about ourselves and the industry and said it was the right move. We started focusing on out-of-state movers (because we can relate) and investors. We utilized each other’s strengths to build our business and leaned on each other to get through the ups and downs of each transaction.
2023 was a challenging year for many realtors, and we had to adapt our marketing, strategy, and daily activities to stay afloat. In 2024, we decided to join Realty One Group, a worldwide brand, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. They offer the latest technology, nationwide referrals, and outstanding local leaders we rely on daily. This move has provided us with the support and resources we need to thrive in the ever-evolving real estate landscape. We are still ‘that couple,’ just new and improved!
As you know, we’re big fans of Realty One Group Anthem. What can you tell our readers who might need to become more familiar with the brand?
Realty One Group Anthem is our local Knoxville office, part of a family of 400 offices nationwide. This modern, purpose-driven lifestyle brand is one of the fastest-growing franchisors in the world! In 2023 (I have to brag), the company completed over 87,000 real estate transactions, totaling more than $33.7 billion in sales, even amidst one of the most challenging economies we’ve seen!
What attracted me to Realty One Group was their unique approach: breaking boundaries and paradigms by being unconventional in everything they do. They offer unlimited tools and support, encouraging collaboration among business-minded professionals rather than competition. This mindset has allowed me to connect with many Realty One agents, facilitating easy business referrals because we share a common vision. Their expansive network enables me to assist clients moving to and from Tennessee, enhancing our ability to market listings to potential movers nationwide. It’s a win-win!
Additionally, Realty One Group is committed to positively impacting both locally and globally. Our Knoxville office plans to volunteer quarterly, coming together to give back to those in need within our community.
What are your plans for the future?
The future looks bright, given that real estate is closely tied to the economy; we must continuously adapt and improve our methods to be faster and more efficient. That’s exactly what we plan to keep doing. Owning a home is a cornerstone of the American Dream, and we are dedicated to helping open doors for as many people as possible.
