Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Barlow.
Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I live in California and wanted to do real estate investing. Unfortunately, California was out of out of our price range. So in 2019 my husband and I started looking out of state. We discovered the Smoky Mountains and started a vacation rental that I manage.
I wanted to diversify our portfolio so are started analyzing the area and discovered long-term rental had great opportunities as well. Since then, we have purchased 4 more properties in East Tennessee and Knoxville. Our recent purchase is at Douglas Lake.
We are currently updating it. I have always had a passion for real estate but never thought of looking out of state. What a blessing it has been and now I have become a real estate agent in Southern California.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been definitely challenges. The biggest one has been trying to get my boots on the ground in Tennessee. I am still figuring it out. The people in Tennessee have been so helpful. Very different from out here. The other challenge is family. Working with your husband and having 2 young kids while starting 2 businesses can be hectic. Oh ya, and throw a pandemic in the middle of it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the organization. Real Estate is my business. I love investing.
Analyzing the deal, finding them, and working with other like-minded people. I enjoy it so much that I have become an agent to help others achieve their dreams. Whether buying their first home or helping others start their journey to financial freedom. I am constantly educating myself as an investor and as an agent.
My brokerage prides itself in the amount of training and resources we have to help our clients. I am driven by passion and joy not money. Teaching my children about the benefits of real estate also helps bring us closer as a family and lets them know they will have a legacy.
