Exploring Life & Business with LaSheika Thomas of Veils & Lapels Ceremonies

Today, we’d like to introduce you to LaSheika Thomas.

LaSheika Thomas

Hi LaSheika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I became a notary public in the late fall of 2022 and discovered that in the State of Tennessee, as a notary, you can legally solemnize marriages. I absolutely had no clue as to what I was doing or how I was going to do it.

All I knew was that I was going to be a wedding officiant because I absolutely LOVE love and hear stories of how couples met and fell in love. What better way to do that than to become a wedding officiant?

I took to the internet, did some research, and even reached out to other wedding officiants for advice and tips. I dug deep, took notes, created a website, joined just about every wedding platform to get my name out there, took to social media to advertise, and boom, here I am. I’ve solemnized marriages for over 20 + couples, beginning with my first vow renewal in November of 2022, and here I am in 2024, continuing my Wedding Officiant journey…

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been pretty smooth. The only challenge is getting your name out there and reaching more couples. I stay vigilant and consistent because I know that I will be OVERFLOWING with couples who are ready to book my services in the very near future.

But overall, I’m glad I stepped out on faith and decided to begin the journey of officiating weddings. I’ve met so many wonderful and beautiful couples, and for that, I’m grateful. I’m really looking forward to the months ahead and booking those spring, summer, and fall weddings.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Veils & Lapels Ceremonies, I offer a range of services tailored to make your special day unforgettable. As an experienced wedding officiant, I specialize in crafting unique and personalized ceremonies that reflect the couple’s love story and beliefs. I am known for my attention to detail, warm demeanor, and ability to create a meaningful and inclusive atmosphere for all types of ceremonies.

What sets me apart is my commitment to truly understanding the couple’s vision and working closely with them to bring it to life. I want readers to know that with Veils & Lapels Ceremonies, they can expect a seamless and heartfelt experience that celebrates their love in a way that is authentic and memorable.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have so many memories, but if I had to pick, it would be playing outside in the apartment complex with neighborhood kids.

We would swing on a large vine that hung from a tree, sled down a large hill when it snowed, roller skate in the road (now that’s a true skater, especially going downhill full speed on concrete… lol), riding bikes… I could go on and on, so THE BEST childhood memory is actually just being a child; it was all so simple then.
