Today we’d like to introduce you to William And Heather Butler.
Hi William and Heather, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our story started in high school when we first started dating and eventually was married in 1995. We have two beautiful daughters Alexis and Hannah. We were a military family for 20 years and then retired in Knoxville TN in 2013. From the beginning, it was always our dream to own a log cabin on some land and to run a bed and breakfast. Our dream came true in 2021 where we were able to purchase a log cabin on a small farm, along with a horse barn that we have recently renovated as an Airbnb.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The renovation process started out a bit rocky due to numerous contractors falling through on the job. After a year of searching, we were able to find a contractor that worked closely with us to bring our vision to life. The end product turned out breathtaking. Many of our guests after staying, will state that photos really do not do justice to how beautiful and peaceful the property really is. Our property has been listed now on Airbnb for a year, and it has been so rewarding to see so many guests come and enjoy the space with their families.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
After retirement from the Navy, Billy was able to utilize his time off to upkeep the farm and keep the Airbnb running smoothly. Heather is a licensed mental health therapist and food server outside of the home but spends her off days helping with this new family business. Our oldest daughter Alexis is a college student and professional photographer that offers her services to our guests as well. Our youngest daughter Hannah is a college student and assists the family in cleaning the property and taking care of the farm animals. Our family took great pride in decorating the place ourselves. We spent a year going around and shopping for this space to help our guests feel like they were right at home when they vacation. Something that sets us apart from other Airbnb rentals is both location and space. We offer the privacy of a 14-acre farm setting with mountain views, but our guests can get to downtown Knoxville in 30 minutes, and to Pigeon Forge attractions in 45 minutes. We offer an affordable three bedroom, two bath, dining room, living room, laundry facilities, and a full kitchen to our guests. Running a vacation home has been a blessing. We get to meet so many new people from all over country. Our goal is to give our guests and families a place to make memories that they will cherish forever.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Our advice would be to never give up on your dreams. It took our family almost thirty years to see our dreams unfold. We thank God for this blessing.
