Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Dooley
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have had a passion for health and fitness for as long as I can remember. I played soccer through college & also loved to run! After graduating college with an Exercise Science degree from TN Tech, I pursued becoming a certified personal trainer. Over the last several years I have worked in many different settings from personal training to group training to online training in all kinds of different gyms. I found my favorite work behind the mic at Orangetheory fitness. I was there for over 6 years before making a recent transition to coaching at HYLO Fitness. I coach on the HY side there. In addition to coaching at these places, I have run an online personal training business I ran on the side.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s certainly not always been easy. When I first started out, I wasn’t sure what I really liked the most in the fitness industry. I was still trying to figure out my passion and niche with the fitness world. I transitioned jobs a few times before discovering how much I loved coaching group fitness classes as my main gig and running my online training on the side for more one on one personal training opportunities. I also have had to navigate several changes to find what best fits my family in different seasons as I have had two little boys over the last few years.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work primarily at HYLO Fitness in Bearden. I am known in the boutique fitness world as I was also a coach at Orangetheory Fitness for 6 years. I specialize in group fitness training.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I don’t necessarily anticipate any significant changes in the fitness industry over the next 5-10 years. I anticipate that boutique style fitness studios will continue to thrive as many people love the community aspect and accountability. It’s also a lot of fun!
Experiencing covid certainly changed a lot for everyone, the fitness industry included, and that can be seen in the popularity of Peloton and similar programs that allow people to workout “together” from the convenience of their house. That was a pretty big shift as a lot of people never really came back to gyms after that. I don’t see anything with quite that magnitude changing the fitness industry up in the next several years.
