Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Baudry.
Hi Taylor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I spent most of my life living in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have been in the arts world as long as I can remember, as I started dancing at the age of two and loved all things creative. My grandparents loved taking me to art galleries when they watched me during the summer and I especially loved the photos of nature and oceans and dreampt of taking pictures like them one day. Around the age of 10, I started learning how to use my parents old digital camera and would take pictures of things like our backyard and my stuffed animals. Eventually, I got a smartphone and I became obsessed with taking and editing photos. Every little thing became photogenic in my eyes, from cacti to pencils, I took photos of everything. On black friday of 2015, I invested in my first camera. I started taking landscape photos and senior portraits for kids in my class and learning how to edit with legitimate software, not just smartphone apps. I ended up upgrading my camera every 2- 3 years, buying bigger and better lenses, and becoming more technical with my approaches. Since then, I have started a small photography business and primarily do sessions for maternity, family, senior portraits and creative shoots.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been the easiest road to get to where I am today. I have always had to have photography kind of on the back burner since school and work have always taken priority. Ever since moving to Knoxville, I have been able to set more time aside for photography and have been able to set it at a higher priority. I also have done all of my studying and learning on my own. I took one college course but it was more for fun and inspiration rather than technical ability. With that, it has been a lot of trial and error when it comes to learning about camera use and editing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to do creative photoshoots, ones with different out-of-the-box themes and fun ideas. I also do regular shoots for families, graduates, and maternity. However, the shoots that challenge my creativity are by far my favorite.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m lucky to have such amazing family and friends. They are always ready to be a part of all my crazy shoot ideas and to help me set up and tear down before and after photoshoots as well. My husband is my rock and has always been a huge help with my photography. He is my professional bag carrier, lens changer, and set decorator!
