Today we’d like to introduce you to Merry Dumas.

Merry Dumas

Hi Merry, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband Justin and I have been happily married for 23 years and have 3 amazing kids. I began baking 22 years ago, making yummy cakes for my family and friends. In 2015, We packed up and moved across the country from Arizona to the beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee that we now call home. With the love and encouragement from my family and a little push from my best friend and sister, “Cakes & Confections by Merry” emerged in 2021, fulfilling my dream of owning a bakery!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With any small business, the first few years are hard. After launching in January 2021, it took about 6 months to see steady orders. Year 2 saw me triple my revenue! The only real struggle I have found has been the constant rise in the cost of supplies and goods.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
Customer satisfaction is my #1 goal. I take great pride in the work that I do and in the long-term relationships that I’ve built with my customers. I am dedicated and dependable; my goal is to ensure the most significant level of skill in designing unique creations made to order that will put a smile on your face and your tummy.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was and still am a people pleaser. I am very creative, and I have always loved animals and cooking.
