Today we’d like to introduce you to Dea Denton
Hi Dea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Welcome to my art journey my name is Dea. Please enjoy my work realized in paintings, sculptures, and dark fantasy murmurs.
This is Niphradil Arts, Niphradil in the fantasy language Elvish, was a flower in Tolkien lore a small white mythical flower that bloomed after Luthien was born “daughter of flowers” The name can also be translated as “a delicate kin of a snowdrop”
This project was created to allow my mind to dream and create through all kinds of mediums, including original stories and art of characters, both magic and mundane. My Style is ever growing as well as changing but I always come back to Fantasy with sprinkles of my love for 80s nostalgia, hair metal and punk of the era!
Through digital art, prints, stickers, keychains, enamel pins, and so much more, I am able to make the appreciation of so much special media physical, for myself and an ever growing number of others.
Niphradil Arts is an evolving project that has a home in many places.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My obstacles and challenges is my story.
My art story didn’t start with me thinking the form of art I’d be doing is on the paper, in the beginning I thought I would be perusing classical singing. but life hit as life does and instead of perusing singing as the years passed I went to the paper after long shifts as my comfort And here I am with physical arts as my job and my vocal art as the hobby, cause I’ll never quite let that go either.
The journey wasn’t smooth I did hold onto this dream strapped to my waist while somehow working fulltime jobs, raising kids, having animals and still creating art and going out to vend where I started learning the ropes of selling my art.
Within the last ten years, my start has been rocky getting where I am now I’ve had many starts. Personal life “behind the scenes” started when I met my partner in a band I had joined when I lived in Florida and he followed me back home and then enter our two boys who aren’t our own, but don’t tell them that cause as far as we’re concerned they are. We did have them around middle school age and onward raising these two throughout our 20s they graduated high school and now with an empty house I decided to finally take the plunge into being full time as an artist, my last job being a huge help to allowing a forgiving schedule through my trails and tribulations with kids and giving me my weekends for events where I was able to vend. That job was among many but ended up being the last for now. and that was at a pottery studio called polka dot pots, after I was behind hotel front desks prior. So, now suddenly I’m here, able to fully allow my self to make art so welcome to the beginning of this journey, I’ve changed my studio name with this new start due to finally finding where I stand not only with myself as a person but also with my art style and aesthetics, my old name was Arivae Studio meaning ‘sunlight’ in Tolkien’s fantasy language Elvish. Now its changed to Niphradil arts meaning ‘little white flower’ or it can also be translated to ‘snowdrop’ so, my art style I’m showcasing here is the beginning of me finally able to focus 100% to my art, I’m sure things will continue to change as I continue to learn more and grow.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist of many mediums, I sculpt with clay. paint on canvas but mostly I paint digitally so I’m more easily able to sell my work as prints, stickers and other items I could get manufactured like keychains and such.
