Community Highlights: Meet Dawn DiVita of Yoga DiVita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn DiVita.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My yogic journey began with a VHS tape in 1998 and the desire for peace and calm amidst a stormy young adult life. After practicing for 5 years, I began to explore a more in-depth understanding to share with others. Over the last 25 years, I have had the pleasure and honor of learning, practicing, and teaching alongside many teachers and students. I love the various pathways and their ability to support different stages of our lives. Today, I consider myself a Yoga & Ayurvedic Radiant Wellness Coach for those desiring to live their best life on and off the yoga mat. Optimal living in radiance and vitality is achievable wherever you are, if you truly desire it. I support people in locating their unique and awesome path!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What exactly is a smooth ride? Challenges are inevitable because change is the only thing that is guaranteed in life. With that said, our ideas and expectations need to adjust along the journey, or we will constantly be wrapped in disappointment and fear.

I believe that with age comes wisdom, or reality, LOL! I have taught in a variety of locations, ranging from public libraries, community centers, and schools to owning a brick-and-mortar studio.

Bigger is not always better.
Keeping things simple is smart and sweet.
Starting over at 52 isn’t easy, but I am here for it. I have over 20 years of experience, so don’t sweat the small stuff is legit.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My name is Dawn Shanthi DiVita. My teacher, Trace Sahaja Bonner, blessed me with the Sanskrit name Shanthi in 2010. She explained it as I bring peace to all. It definitely was an honor that she saw me this way and only in the last few years can I truly understand it.

Here’s insight why…
I am a Health and Wellness Coach specializing in the feminine aspects of Yoga and Ayurveda. This means I invite students to take the rigidty out of the practice while encouraging fluidity and flexibity for growth.

You see I have been called the “Unfiltered Teacher” because I share my life experiences authentically, with my heart on my sleeve. I say what many think without hesitation, which maybe colorful and/or painful but it gives others permission to do the same.

Yoga DiVita is an extention of me, a safe space to explore where you are, at any age. Over the years, we have been infamous for embracing a diverse community that allows everyone to do their best with encouragement and support. The “we” is the Yoga DiVita community, not just me.

Whether in group classes or private sessions, Yoga DiVita offers opportunities for physical, mental, emotional, and energetic growth.

I know pain and suffering from an early age, so creating a safe and supportive environment to be seen and heard is everything. Classes, private sessions, special events, and workshops are offered both online and in person.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Oh, to jump into the deep end of the unknown comes with all the feelings. I am currently making one of the most significant risk-taking business decisions of my career. I recently moved to a new state where I have yet to establish a community. However, I know a handful of individuals who are familiar enough with me that one of them passed my name along to someone who showed interest in a yoga studio being part of this art and healing collective building. When I received this email, my belly was doing flips with excitement, nervousness, and anticipation of what could be. I said “Yes” to researching the building, the demographics, and the feelings behind this endeavor. What I know is what I know. I am abundant in passion and inspiration, utilizing Yoga and Ayurvedic tools to share with the community and invite them to radiant living. I trust that. I know that because it is my truth. I said “yes” and moved forward on this adventure of building, even when the risks were high. I have rolled up my sleeves to meet the community and offer what I know are fantastic and supportive ways of living. Do I have moments of thinking, “What did I do?” Yes, but my heart and belly speak louder with love, laughter, and adventure of what could be.

With the journey I’ve had and all the lessons along the way, I look forward to refining how I reach my community. Physically, Yoga DiVita will explore virtual, in-person, live streaming, and retreat spaces. I have been enjoying collaborating with other amazing humans to offer a more expansive experience for the students. This is where we are at ~ anything is possible, as long as we are open to it! I hope you will join us in person or online. Contact me to begin a radiant journey!
