Community Highlights: Meet Bo Pebley of Secret City CrossFit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bo Pebley.

Hi Bo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Colton McVey and I began as athletes at Secret City CrossFit. We quickly fell in love with CrossFit. CrossFit is functional, challenging, and rewarding. Long on into being athletes at Secret City CrossFit we were welcomed into the community that Mark Berger had built. We again feel in love with the community within Secret City CrossFit.

After a couple of years, we became coaches and began to watch athletes progress and become healthier. We began to discuss the possibility of owning a gym but did not want to start our own. We wanted to continue the community we fell in love with and work to expand CrossFit into the Oak Ridge community.

So in July 2021, we purchased Secret City CrossFit from Mark and Wendi Berger.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Actually, the transition into ownership has been smooth. The athletes have been patient and understanding of the changes that were made. Some of the changes early on were difficult but our community of athletes has been great!

As you know, we’re big fans of Secret City CrossFit. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Secret City CrossFit is comprised of two owners Bo Pebley and Colton McVey. There are currently 62 athletes within the community at Secret City CrossFit. They are from all walks of life. We have athletes from 11 to 73 and all in between. We have two additional coaches with 10 plus years of fitness and coaching. They are Angie Nelson and Mark Berger.

Our mission is to reach the community with health and fitness to improve their quality of life.

Secret City CrossFit provides a personal training type of approach. The workouts are designed based on functional movements and are constantly varied. This type of workout will allow the community of athletes to improve their fitness and maintain their abilities for self-care as they get older.

What sets us apart from others in the fitness industry is the community of athletes. The athletes don’t just work out together. They live life together. We are a family.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Oak Ridge is the variety of fitness opportunities in the city. There is bike riding, hiking, trails for running, greenways, etc. The city is very open and welcome to the fitness industry.
