Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakehaven Devin Ross.
Lakehaven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hailing from the bands original birthplace in the suburbs of South Clinton all the way to Seymour, Tennessee, Lakehaven is the final byproduct of multiple projects throughout the past decade that were heavily involved in Knoxville’s local punk/hardcore scene. The result being a dynamic set of friends who follow the path of bands stemming from hardcore, emo, pop punk, and other sub genres of the like. Lakehaven is an explosion of thick guitars, authentic drums, and bona fide vocals and lyricism that are memorable at the very least.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. It is harder than ever before to be an emerging artist in a big small town. Instead of just trying to get people to come to shows we are also trying to get people to look at us through their phones. The result we have found is that music is not what people want to “discover” on their Instagram/facebook/tik tok pages. However it is important to remain confident and take advantage of opportunities that we get such as live shows and collaborations with other artists. We are always extremely grateful to be able to get the 5 of us to show up and play in the first place. We dont know many people that have 5 friends that can show up on time and do their job very well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, Lakehaven is a band in which I (Devin) have been granted the title of creative director and also our social media administrator. I also play rhythm guitar in Lakehaven. I think we are collectively most proud of staying together as a band with odds always stacked against us. It’s a dream we have all collectively kept alive for quite some time-Over 10 years actually. I believe what sets us apart is our unusual blend of inspirations that bleed into our music. We’re really into classic pop punk, metalcore, hardcore, and a little bit of pop.
What are your plans for the future?
We are actually working on releasing our debut full length later this year or early next year independently, which will be something that will change our band for the better. When you only have a 4 track release it’s a little hard to find what defines your band. Especially when you know the best songs you’ve ever written don’t exist to the world yet. We are also going to start doing small regional tours to gain traction and build a firm foundation.
