Check Out Dinah Grace Hauck’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dinah Grace Hauck.

Hi Dinah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely!

My love for music started from birth, as I grew up in a home filled with it. My passion for worship really grew around the age of 12, and I started having opportunities to lead worship more and more at that time as well. I also grew up knowing about God my entire life, as I am the daughter of a pastor.

However, I truly came to a deep understanding of Jesus and His love for me around the age of 15 and chose to be baptized and dedicated my life to Him completely. At this time, I knew I was called to serve Him through music someway, somehow.

I spent my school days participating in various choirs, bands, and theatre. I thoroughly enjoyed that time and grew in my confidence through those experiences immensely. When I was in college, I took those experiences, along with my love for the Lord, and continued to pursue ways to serve Him. My heart for true and genuine worship exploded at this time. I knew without a doubt that this was the calling over my life, but I had no idea what that was going to look like!

I met my husband, Joshua, when I was 18. At the time, he was 24. The Lord has and continues to use him to grow my faith, and I could not be more thankful for him and grateful to be his wife. We got married in 2016 and felt a pulling to relocate to East Tennessee for ministry. So, in March of 2017, that is exactly what we did! We came here with no secure jobs in place and no clue what we were going to do. But God. He knew, and He guided every single decision we made.

We served together at a church in Maryville for 4 years. I was on staff for worship and he was an amazing servant for the Lord: volunteering, learning, and gaining experience for his personal calling in ministry. At this time, our life looks a little different. We took a step back to focus on our growing family (I’m due in just a few weeks with our third child), as well as praying and pursuing the Lord’s will over our future. Right now, my husband and I are owners/operators of 2 campgrounds in Sevierville.

As we have sought out a season of rest at our current church, I also started writing and releasing original music. Our prayer has always been to have the time to do ministry in whatever way God leads. He continues to take us to new places and show us glimpses of His plan for us in service to Him!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been. At the age of 4, I developed chronic chest pains that made my life very difficult growing up. I missed out on a lot of things due to this horrible pain that was never able to be properly diagnosed. However, at the age of 18, God removed that pain from my life. For that, I am forever grateful! 5 months later, I became very sick.

I had 3 infections on my body that we learned were MRSA. I spent several days in the hospital because I was extremely allergic to the antibiotic that most effectively kills MRSA. After it all cleared up, I suffered from the aftermath of that allergic reaction for years. For 2 of those years, I was totally unable to sing, but during that time He grew me and taught me so much. It has been a long journey of retraining my voice and gaining back my confidence since then.

To this day, I’m still not back 100%, but God has remained so faithful to me. When I lead worship, I’m so wrapped up in His presence that all the anxieties and pain just fade away. That is how I know even more clearly that this is something He has called me to do! As for my husband and me, it’s been a road of chaos in our lives from the beginning.

However, all of the trials and heartaches we have faced have only grown us stronger together and in the Lord. It has shaped us and equipped us in so many ways. The road has never been smooth, but everything has been used for good and for growth, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now, I’ve written and released an EP with 5 originals and 1 cover, a Christmas single with a music video, and now this year another single that speaks to the aftermath of suicide. That one wasn’t something I anticipated to write, but no one expects a close friend to take their life. My hope is to shed light on and offer ways to heal for anyone who may be walking through a season of grief similar to mine.

Suicide isn’t something that’s talked about enough, especially in the Church. No one ever knows what to say, but saying nothing doesn’t help anyone. I hope to be used in a big way in spreading awareness and showing the true love of God to everyone I encounter. I’m curious about how that will play out.

I’m currently working on another worship single to release this year, and I have a lot more songs ready to get in the studio for a full album release in 2023! I never saw myself as a songwriter, but when 2020 hit, they just started flowing out of me in my quiet times of prayer and worship.

The Lord inspires me with His word, and I strive to write what lines up with who He truly is and what He really says. You can find all of my music on any streaming service!

What matters most to you? Why?
My focus and prayer are to glorify God. It’s funny because I want people to hear what He has laid upon my heart to write, but I don’t necessarily want to be famous. Getting MY name out there is not the goal.

My heart is to share the true gospel and heart of Jesus. I’m truly just following the leading of God, whatever that looks like!
