Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Genest
Hi Cheyenne , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started TikTok during Covid times, like most people probably did. And I actually originally started it for my old side hustle/ business I had called “Chey dyes” Where I made bleach dyed tee shirts and sold them online and at events all over Florida. After awhile I started changing my gears and making body positivity Tiktoks because I didn’t see anyone of my body type being represented on my for you page or in the media. For a long time “plus sized” women have been cast out of the media and aren’t seen as beautiful and worthy as straight sized women or humans in general, it doesn’t have to be gender specific but anyway. I wanted to be the change and see myself & others presented as fashionable, fearless, beautiful, and traveling so I started doing it myself! 🙂 Since 2020 I have traveled many places and have created content for brands like torrid, eargasms, TikTok shop brands, etc and i absolutely love being a creator. Currently my on going thing is trying to find the best chai tea in Tennessee. :p and also Fat testing tourist attractions and showcasing the weight limits and that we can still enjoy fun things while traveling like everyone else!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely been far from smooth, I’ve had many rocky roads hills and curves but we just keep trucking along you gotta keep moving forward. I tend to get a lot of hate comments simply for existing and I tend to fight back or reply SOLEY because I don’t want people who look like me to take those comments to heart and feel as if they’re about themselves / fat bodies in general. I am a fairly healthy woman despite my weight and I never truly let it hold me back. I want people out there to feel good about themselves and find love and happiness within their body’s and lives. And that’s possible at ANY SIZE. You do not need to lose weight to be happy or to be pretty.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I relocated here for an internship at NASCARSpeedPark as a marketing intern (: I’m loving it so far. I’ve been working really hard on our Color Me Mutt event. Online I’m most known for traveling, coffee, plus size fashion/ life.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m nervous for the media industry because I feel as if AI is taking over but for now media is apart of everyone’s daily life. The news, papers, social medias, tv etc. I’m always following the trends and going wherever the wind takes me.
