Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From a young age, my dream was always clear: I wanted to own a dance studio. I was just 8 years old when that dream took root, and as a young dancer, I would proudly tell anyone who asked that I aspired to open my own studio one day. Now, after decades of dedication and hard work, that dream has come to life.
Born and raised in Southern California, I trained at the one of the nations top dance studios and was represented by Go 2 Talent Agency, where I also auditioned and worked professionally in Los Angeles. Dance was not just a passion for me; it was a source of healing. As a child, I faced numerous health challenges, and dance provided me with a safe space to heal and grow.
Around four years ago, my family and I made the decision to relocate to East Tennessee, bringing three generations together. We recognized that the dance community here was quite different from what we had experienced, and we knew we had the potential to offer something unique to the Knoxville area. This is how Evolve Dance Plex came to be—a living expression of over 20 years of experience, passion, and dedication to the art of dance.
Evolve Dance Plex is more than just a dance studio; it is a family-run business committed to providing best-in-class dance training. Our studio is a reflection of our journey, our values, and our love for dance. We are proud to be part of Knoxville’s vibrant dance community and are excited to help the next generation of dancers achieve their dreams, just as I did.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey to opening Evolve Dance Plex has been a fulfilling experience, though it has certainly been time-consuming. While the road hasn’t been particularly difficult, it has required an immense amount of patience, perseverance, and dedication. This entire process has been nothing short of beautiful—exhausting at times, but deeply rewarding. It’s a testament to the grace of God, as every step along the way has felt guided and every door has opened because of Him. Truly, the opportunity to bring this vision to life has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most known for my unique ability to meet each dancer where they are and foster growth both in and outside of the studio. Whether working with beginners or advanced dancers, I am dedicated to helping every individual reach their full potential. I take immense joy in watching others succeed and am deeply committed to supporting the success of everyone I work with.
My reputation is built on professionalism, compassion and integrity. I am known for being open-minded and maintaining a positive attitude, no matter the situation. Above all, I am recognized for showing up for others, always offering support and encouragement, no matter the challenge. This approach has allowed me to create an environment where dancers feel valued and empowered to thrive.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories are the several times I spent with my mom during our drives to Los Angeles for rehearsals, auditions, or filming commercials and music videos. The drive was typically about two hours each way, which gave us plenty of quality one-on-one time together in the car. Along the way, we’d often stop for lunch or dinner, and sometimes we’d stay in a hotel, further creating those special moments. Those experiences were invaluable, and I pray that one day I can create similar memories with my daughter, building lasting bonds and sharing moments that will stay with her forever.
