Hi Brookney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always believed that the way you show up in small moments defines the kind of leader and person you become. Growing up, I was surrounded by hardworking, humble people who taught me the value of effort, gratitude, and integrity. My parents worked tirelessly to create opportunities for my sister and me, showing us that no matter how much or how little you have, you take pride in your work, extend a hand to others, and always remain kind and grounded.
My professional journey began at Asen Marketing as an intern. From the start, I was given opportunities to learn, explore, and grow, surrounded by leaders who believed in developing people and empowering them to reach their potential. Over time, I was trusted with more responsibility and encouraged to find my own leadership voice. That growth, along with the guidance of incredible mentors like Paul Scoonover, shaped not just my career path but my perspective on what true leadership means.
Today, as Co-Managing Partner at Asen, I carry those lessons with me every day. Our company is built on people, not just marketing campaigns or metrics, but real relationships and shared purpose. We exist to help others succeed, to collaborate openly, and to make things happen together. We still live by Paul’s words, “Are we having fun yet?” And for me, the answer is a heartfelt, “Yes. Yes, we are.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. I began my career journey during a major recession, and it was daunting entering the workforce when so many were losing their jobs. Over the years, I’ve navigated economic downturns, a global pandemic, and now the rapid evolution of AI, each bringing its own set of challenges and opportunities for growth.
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to helping others. That is the very reason Asen Marketing exists. Change is inevitable, but our purpose does not waver. We adapt, we innovate, and we find ways to keep serving our clients, partners, and community the best we can. Given the opportunity, you can bet we will always find a way.
