Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Large
Hi Kayla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for skincare started when I was a nurse for a dermatology office for several years. I learned so much in my time there and eventually went to school to be a Esthetician. Knowing so much about skin, school was a breeze and SO FUN! I always knew I wanted to make my own schedule and be my own boss. So that’s exactly what I did after I graduated. I found a open space in my small hometown, renovated it and made it my own. There is no spa around, so I was so happy to be the one to bring one to town! We started in May 2022 and have been going strong ever since!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have 6 children so running a business as well as taking care of 6 kiddos was a challenge in itself! It was smooth at times and also bumpy at times. Starting a business from scratch was way harder than I thought it would be for sure. There were a lot of inspections, renovations and decisions to be made that never even crossed my mind.
Being the only Spa in town had its advantages and disadvantages. There was nothing and no one locally to compare to, No businesses around us doing the same thing to lean on for help and to give us advice. But that also meant there were no local competitors.
Trying to build clients from scratch was not easy, especially right out of school, but it made me challenge myself and made me work that much harder. My whole life I had been paid hourly at every job I had ever had, so being the owner and not getting paid by the hour was definitely something in had to adjust to. In the beginning it was definitely a rollercoaster, some weeks brought in a lot of income, some weeks I made just enough to pay the spa bills. But with lots sweat, plenty of tears and prayers we are a fully booked and functioning now Med Spa! God is GOOD!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the owner but also have several wonderful girls apart of our team! We offer a wide range of Custom Facials, Microneedling, Weight-loss, Botox/Filers, Permanant makeup, Threads, Full Body Waxing, Eyelash Extensions, Spraytans and more. We have so much to offer and continue to look for the newest services to bring to our clients,
I’m most proud of how much we have grown! When I started people told me I was crazy for opening a spa in such a small town. That there was nothing around, and I needed to go out west where there was more people and more demand. I prayed about it was confident that if we could get the word out, make people feel welcome and relaxed, that they would keep coming back and hopefully tell a friend!
If you have ever walked through the door of Bombshell Beauty Bar, you will quickly see that our personalities set us apart.. We like to make everyone feel welcome. We are fun, bubbly, and love to make people feel beautiful in their own way. For some that may be getting Botox/Filler, for others it’s just a simple facial that not only helps them treat their skin concerns but also gives them time for themselves to relax and unwind. Sometimes even a therapy session! We pride ourselves on building relationships with our clients and giving them the best experience each time they come in.
