

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Lawrence
Hi Jared, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From the moment I stepped into my first exercise class, I knew I had found my passion. My journey into the world of training began with a strong foundation and a desire to help others achieve their fitness goals.
I graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a degree in Exercise Science, a pivotal step that equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in personal training. The blend of practical and theoretical education sparked my enthusiasm for fitness and wellness.
After graduating, I relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where I embarked on my career as a personal trainer. This was a formative time where I truly understood the importance of building connections. Each interaction with clients and colleagues not only deepened my understanding of fitness but also opened doors to new opportunities.
One crucial connection led me to my current position at Performance Training, Inc. I am proud to say that I have been with PTI for nearly 21 years. This role has allowed me to grow significantly, both personally and professionally.
Over the years with Performance Training, I’ve had the privilege of working with athletes and individuals from all over the country. Each experience has informed my approach to training, allowing me to tailor programs to meet diverse needs and goals. Whether it’s helping an athlete prepare for competition or guiding someone through their fitness journey, every interaction has been rewarding.
Throughout my time at PTI, I have developed and implemented training programs that have made a tangible impact on my clients’ lives. I’ve witnessed transformations that reaffirm my belief in the power of training and its ability to foster growth, both physically and mentally. The success stories I’ve shared with clients continue to motivate me and deepen my commitment to this field.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I faced was not knowing what career path I wanted to take. For a long time, I felt lost, unsure of how I could create a life that aligned with my passions while still being able to support myself. Financially, it was a challenge to make ends meet, which added even more pressure and uncertainty.
Time management was another big obstacle. Between working to stay afloat and trying to build a future, I often felt stretched thin. Balancing everything—training, work, and personal responsibilities—was overwhelming at times, and I had to make tough sacrifices to keep moving forward.
Overcoming those struggles wasn’t easy, but I learned a lot about resilience and self-discipline. Not knowing my path forced me to explore and focus on what truly mattered to me, which led me to fitness and competition. Financial hardships taught me how to be resourceful and keep working even when it felt like progress was slow. And mastering time management showed me how to prioritize my goals and stay consistent, even on the hardest days.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in fitness coaching and performance training, with a focus on preparing individuals for their sport and functional fitness events. I’m known for not just training athletes but also inspiring them to unlock their potential, whether they’re seasoned competitors or taking on their first event. My work goes beyond programming workouts—I’m invested in the mental, physical, and emotional development of the people I work with.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve had on others’ journeys. Wheter it’s one of my teams winning a championship or an individual accomplish something they doubted themselves in . Seeing them push past their limits and gain confidence in themselves reminds me why I do what I do.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people on a deeper level. I’ve been in their shoes—facing uncertainty, struggling to find my path, and learning to overcome obstacles—and I use those experiences to help others navigate their own challenges. I combine that personal understanding with a relentless work ethic, a strong focus on recovery and longevity.
Ultimately, I’m not just about helping people achieve a fitness goal—I’m about building a mindset and a lifestyle that allows them to succeed in all areas of life. That’s what drives me every day.
