Daily Inspiration: Meet Megan Rodgers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Rodgers.

Megan Rodgers

Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Truthfully, I’ve always been active on social media, but something shifted around the time of the pandemic. I was in the third trimester of pregnancy with my second baby when the world shut down, aka I was about to give birth with a mask on. I started openly and honestly sharing my fears and anxieties surrounding the unknown. This ultimately led to making so many incredible connections with other women through Instagram (I know *gasp*) at a time when face-to-face interactions were minimal. Before I knew it, I had started developing a little community on my page, and since then, it has grown to be so much more. As a content creator, I love using social media as a creative outlet and a hub for finding inspiration and ideas. I’m a stay-at-home mom to three littles now, and over on my page, I share glimpses of daily life, all the ups and downs, the raw, real moments, the tears, and the celebrations. Social media tends to be a highlight reel, but I share the vulnerable side of it in hopes that I can make another person feel heard or less alone. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate enough to partner with some fantastic brands, which has been a fun way to share discounts with our community and build the @heymeganrodgers brand.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are so many nuances regarding content creation and social media. You spend a lot of your time building trust with your audience, but there are often factors you cannot control for posts, such as algorithms and visibility. It can sometimes be frustrating when you have spent considerable time working on something, and it doesn’t go as well as you’d like. However, I have learned so much along the way, and I try not to focus too much on numbers. It’s helpful feedback on how to improve going forward.

Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your work next?
Ultimately, my goal on social media is to share motherhood in a raw and authentic way. While doing this, I also share my favorite products and brands that help us function as a family and some that help us live a healthier lifestyle, too. As a content creator, I strive to organically partner with brands I know and love to generate brand awareness with my audience while providing companies with high-quality content they can use for their social channels and websites. Many brands have affiliate programs that creators can plug into, and I like to do that when I genuinely am excited about a product and use/share it often. This helps me share discounts with my community and earn compensation for the referrals I send their way. Mutually beneficial!

On social media, I have shared openly about some challenging phases of life, one example being our miscarriage. I’ve found that talking about it during those tough times helped me cope. Still, it also helped me connect with other women who have experienced loss or allowed me to be the friend who understood when they were in the same situation. I hope when people think of my page, they think of a mom friend whom they could turn to for laughs, authentic connection, and a place to feel less alone in the journey of motherhood.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband has been my biggest cheerleader Throughout this process of stepping out of my comfort zone and sharing my life on social media. He has picked me up on the hard days and cheered me on during the good times, too. Reluctantly, he is also my (mediocre) editor of captions and reviewer of final video drafts. He has a love-hate relationship with my attention to detail, but I couldn’t have done it without his help taking photos and shooting videos. I appreciate his support and encouragement so, so much! It can be scary to put yourself out there, and he has been a voice of reason for me all along the way.
