Conversations with Christian Cardona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Cardona.

Christian Cardona

Hi Christian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started working in the field in high school in 2011 by working for my friend’s landscape company, where I gained most of my experience. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018 with a landscape design and plant sciences degree. While at the University, I designed outdoor living plans on the side and continued to work in the field. After graduating, I got a full-time job working for a construction supply company, where I continued to design outdoor living plans on the side and coached club soccer for 5 years. Then, I decided a couple of years ago to start my own outdoor design company and couldn’t be happier to be doing what I get to do today!

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Taking that leap of faith was scary, and I can’t say it was the smoothest road starting out. The first year was a struggle while building clientele and putting my name out there. At one point, for about three months, I had to do some work for a food delivery app just to try and make ends meet during the slow season.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I have always had an artistic and creative part and enjoy creating and making things look good. In college, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and career. I switched majors about 6 different times, and it wasn’t until I realized the University of Tennessee offered a landscape design program that it just made sense to me. By combining my previous experience in the landscape field and my artistic capabilities, it clicked for me to go in that direction. Before I started using computer software to create site plans and 3D renderings, everything was hand-drawn, which I enjoyed but consumed a lot of time. I still get to sketch ideas initially, but I specialize in outdoor living site plans and 3D renderings for commercial and residential properties.

Pricing:

  • 2D Site Plans start at $650
  • 2D & 3D Site Plans start at $850
  • 3D Renderings only starts at $450 for 5 screenshots
  • Sketches start at $350 for 2 sketches
