Inspiring Conversations with Crystal Jessee of Jessee Law Office

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Jessee.

Crystal Jessee

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started at an insurance defense firm in Memphis. I moved back to East Tennessee in 2006 and worked for a few local firms until I began to own my firm. I currently do general civil litigation, including domestic, personal injury, medical malpractice, and class action cases.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not. Moving back to East Tennessee has been a hard journey. The field of attorneys here is made up of a majority of males, and being a female, I have found that I have to work twice as hard as my male counterparts to sit at the same table.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I practice primarily in the area of general civil litigation. This includes domestic, personal injury, medical malpractice, and class action cases. I have enjoyed the practice, and to date, my most memorable case has been successfully representing fourteen counties in Tennessee in opioid litigation.

Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find someone you trust and respect, and learn as much as possible from them. Use any extra time to cultivate relationships with older bar members and learn as much as you can about cases, the judicial system, and how they have been successful.
