Inspiring Conversations with Nathan and Lauren Colmer of Wildflower Farm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan and Lauren Colmer.

Hi Nathan and Lauren; so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our love of flowers and nature has always been a big part of our lives. We worked together at a greenhouse when we were married and loved being immersed in flowers and landscaping. When we purchased this property, we started to pour that love into it. Once we began to create what we consider to be paradise, we knew we wanted to share it with others. We started with Airbnb and then decided to host other events. We began having monthly Friday night date nights, nature schools, and a beautiful fall wedding. We built an adorable little rustic white chapel for elopements and micro weddings. We are finishing up our glass house to allow gatherings despite the rain. It will be completed in weeks and will be a unique place for guests to enjoy.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say there have been many obstacles or challenges. We spend a long time discussing all options we can think of before acting. It allows us to make many important decisions together before any issues arise. The biggest thing I can think of is how long it takes to water, weed, and deadhead the flowers to keep this place looking its best for as long as possible. With the help of Nathan’s parents, Bruce and Barbara Colmer, we have a hardworking team that takes pride in Wildflower Farm.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wildflower Farm?
Wildflower Farm is a micro wedding venue, Airbnb, and small event space in Greene County, TN. We specialize in offering a unique location filled with multiple ceremony sites. We offer mountain view, a woodland fairy tale, a rustic chapel, a secret garden, the glass house, an open field, and over 13,000 square feet of wildflowers during the blooming season. Our adorable cottage at Wildflower Farm offers our guests the perfect place to begin their honeymoon. Our packages can be customized to fit our guest’s needs. We have more wildlife here than you’ll see in Cades Cove. Our guests that spend the evenings here often mention the animals they see while enjoying breakfast on the screened-in porch. We also think our new Glass House will be unlike anything in the surrounding area. Tucked into the woods and filled with well over 100 windows, it will be a fantastic place to have a wedding or a beautiful reception. We also feature a 1/4 mile nature trail with the entire wooded area lit with string lights for a romantic and magical nighttime stroll. We want anyone visiting to appreciate and love nature and the beauty of East TN the way we do. We want them to love this place and create moments to treasure forever.

Who else deserves credit for your story?
First and foremost, Nathan’s parents, Bruce and Barbara. They are our biggest cheerleaders and hardest workers and have been behind us every step of the way. They ask at the end of each work day when we will start working the following day. They water, weed, paint windows, mow, trim, provide meals, and do just about any other odd job you can think of around here with us. We couldn’t be where we are without them. We would also like to thank our kids for being patient with us. They also have been a big help in getting this business up and running. They always bring a smile to our faces after a long day of hard work. We would also like to thank everyone who has been here for date nights, nature school, or photo sessions and then mentioned us to their friends and family. Word of mouth has been beneficial.
