Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Burns. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Pete and Tara Burns and their brood of boys manage Crossville Acres. Pete apprenticed under Joel and Daniel Salatin in 2004. He ran his own farm business in Pennsylvania for 14 years. He met and married Tara then, and her marketing experience helped them grow there. The Lord moved their family to Tennessee in 2019 and Crossville in 2021. They raise beyond organic, pastured, raised pork, chicken, dairy, eggs, turkey, and lamb.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Nothing that comes easy is worth doing. We have had various struggles across the years. Many of these come from our prices being higher than commodity food. We value our customers knowing us and where their foods come from, not just trusting a label on the product. This takes time and effort, and we enjoy sharing our knowledge.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in raising foods how we feel God intended them to be raised. We have a diverse skill set, from soil sciences, sustainable, regenerative farming, pasture management, cattle breeding services, butcher shops, custom processing, marketing, and more. We can give our customers a place to get many staple items. We offer various types of meats, bakery items, and more in one location. It is our joy to spread the love of Christ by providing great services to others.
