Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarence Robinson.
Hi Clarence, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As the creator of Cooking with Comedy, I’m about living life, enjoying life, and following your dreams. It is about being creative. It is about promoting diversity, unity, love, and happiness. It is about sharing our differences but uniting in our commonalities. Laughter is the best medicine. We all need food to survive, and laughter will allow us to live healthier and longer life. My life experience brings me to this journey to this point. My life’s journey leaves me with a yearning to share my talent in the hope that it will impact others most positively, with a culinary background from A-B Tech College Asheville.
I worked through my city’s food scene, starting at Grove Park Inn resort and spa, running the Western Carolina rescue ministry kitchen, and being executive chef at the event center; to name a few. I created Cooking With Comedy Catering in July 2011 for my community and its youth to get a different outlook on life. I was blessed to find my passion, so I wanted to share my recipe for life. Starting as a non-profit, I created a Cooking class for the 7 kids in this program to show them meal prep, cutting techniques, and plate-ups. And how to stay calm and relaxed in your work environment. Being recognized nationally and competing on Food Networks Cutthroat Kitchen, I, Chef Clarence Robinson, AKA The Flavor King, have made a name for myself and opened up doors of opportunity with my food truck venture “Soul on the Road. ”
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been pretty smooth besides the blood, sweet, and tears. Getting support from those you least expect it from helps too.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I’m just the all-out creator. I love to write music, cook food, and entertain. I’m a comedian as well. It’s all art and being creative. My creative genius’s name is Rence Binson; that’s my first and last name split.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m pretty much an open book. A lot of people might need to learn the mixed music preference that I’ve had. My brother and I came up listening to all kinds of different music. And many people don’t know I don’t eat meat, just seafood. I’m a pescatarian.
