Daily Inspiration: Meet Doomsayer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Doomsayer.

Hi Doomsayer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been making some form of music since early 2010. I was kind of just thrown into it. I was at a friends recording session and their vocalist quit on the spot and I was thrown into the booth.

I worked with them for a few years and moved out of the area. This is when I downloaded FL Studio and started making Hip-Hop beats. I got over making Hip-Hop beats pretty quickly. I did not like how simple most of the artists wanted the beats, it was limiting my creativeness essentially. So I started making EDM, or Electronic Dance Music.

And let me tell you… I was terrible at it at first, but I had so much fun creating it. All the crazy sounds and sound design people were making intrigued me. I was fascinated by it and just kept trying my best over the years and now we are here I am happy with my production skills, but still learning more and more about every bar that I create.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing really good is ever a smooth road.

We can not grow in our art and within ourselves without having the holes in the road. We need these holes to grow. It’s difficult to think of any specific struggles as there are A LOT of them.

Some struggles that I and a lot of musicians face are writer’s block and not feeling that the work is good enough as if people are going to negatively judge you and your work. Both of these are extremely stressful and defeating.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The Doomsayer project is known for making EDM bass-style music.

I feel I shine most during live sets. I play a lot of the heavier bass house and dubstep bangers, but I also switch it up to more underground artists and if you’ve seen me play before you know I always throw in a lot of Alternative Rock stuff like Falling in Reverse, MGK, Paramore and others.

I’m a sucker for some good pop-punk and post-hardcore.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
WILLINGNESS TO LEARN! I can not stress this enough. Keep your mind open, and stay self-disciplined. Work hard and be consistent and you will flourish.
