Hidden Gems: Meet Becky Roberts of Southeast Title & Escrow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Roberts.

Hi Becky, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the title industry at the early age of 20. I started while I was in college to get away from waiting tables, and to get my feet wet in the business world. Little did I know I would grow to love the industry, and that it would end up being my career. I was initially hired to review final signed documents and to record all legal documents for the title company. After a couple of months, I was given the opportunity and trained to learn the legal title side of it and I started reviewing the attorney’s title opinions and reports- this is where I learned the true importance of title insurance in the real estate industry. I went on to get my license in Tennessee, along with my license in Virginia and a couple of other states.

In 2010, I moved to Knoxville and started working for a local title company, this is when I started to close deals and received the opportunity to sit down with clients and actually be a part of the final signing process for purchasing their home. This is when I realized I truly loved the title industry and that it was what I wanted to do for my career. The excitement and joy of seeing people make one of the biggest purchases of their life and one of the most special purchases for themselves and their families brought me so much happiness that I knew it was what I was supposed to do.

As the years went by, I worked for two of the biggest title companies in Knoxville- Foothills Title and Concord Title. I orchestrated and headed up the branch opening in Powell for Concord Title, and managed that office. In February of 2021, I was approached by Greg Cates to help open and manage the new West Hills office for Southeast Title & Escrow. This ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made.

The staff and the affiliate partners made me feel like I was already a part of their team before I even started, and I knew that having the opportunity to run and manage a branch for one of the longest-running and well-respected title companies in Knoxville was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The last 19 years have had its challenges of long days and nights making sure clients were happy and files were completed to close. It is all worth it to see the joy and happiness on a buyer’s face- the look of accomplishment that comes with becoming a homeowner! To be able to be a part of that is irreplaceable, and there’s no other career or place I’d rather be.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Southeast Title and Escrow is a full-service title company in East Tennessee. Southeast Title was most recently voted by Knoxville as the #1 title company in Cityview Magazine’s Best of the Best. We take pride in partnering with Realtors to ensure a professional and smooth closing experience.

What sets us apart from others is our size and level of care. Realtors that close with us are so much more than just a file or transactions. We value getting to know each Realtor personally, so we can learn how to better serve them and THEIR clients. Southeast has four area offices- West Hills (the office I manage), North, Maryville, and Farragut.
