Today we’d like to introduce you to Rissa Wojcik.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For most of my life, baking and cooking from scratch has been something I have found great joy in. I have always been known in my circle of friends as the one who is making most things homemade. When my oldest son was going to graduate in May 2025, I had planned on making all of the food for his grad party, but wanted to make things a little easier on myself by ordering cupcakes from a local baker. I was planning everything months ahead of time, however, when I started searching for where to get his cupcakes, no local baker had availability for the weekend we needed. Eventually, after searching and calling everywhere, I ended up deciding that I would just make the cupcakes myself, along with everything else.
My faith and relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in my life and when I made the decision to bake these cupcakes, I said to God, “Are you the One who is doing this for something down the road?” It was like I could feel it in my heart that me making these cupcakes was something God was orchestrating for a bigger purpose.
At his party, everyone kept telling me I needed to start selling cupcakes; which I laughed off, assuming everyone was just being kind about them. However, over the course of the next 5 months, God continued to nudge me down this path of opening a cottage bakery. I knew that if I was going to do it, that every single part of this business would be a mission field for God’s glory, it was the only way I could move forward with having the business.
I launched the business to my local friends and family with an amazing response in October 2025. Over the past few months, God has continued to open doors and give me opportunities that I never would have dreamed I could have done. A passion for baking and serving others with treats and food has been ignited on a completely new level and baking in my kitchen brings me more joy than I could have anticipated. While baking, every dessert and treat gets prayed over continually, with worship music playing as loud as possible; there is not a moment in the prepping, baking, packaging process where I am not being intentional about pouring Jesus into what I’m doing for my clients.
People often ask me what I do to make my treats taste so good, and the only answer I have for them is that it is Jesus and love that is baked into every cupcake, cookie, sweet bread, brownie, cake, and dessert.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the biggest struggle I have encountered so far is broadening my reach to further than my immediate community of friends, family, and our church. It takes trust for someone to book you for a party, wedding, large event, business meeting, etc; and until I am able to build that trust in a number of places, it can sometimes feel harder to get established. Word of mouth, referrals, and reviews are a small business’ biggest factor of being able to grow in the beginning months, because people don’t buy from someone that may not be as established as others, regardless of their ability.
As you know, we’re big fans of Blessed & Highly Flavored. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Blessed & Highly Flavored is a cottage bakery that I run out of my home right now (praying to have the opportunity to move into a commercial kitchen at some point!). I specialize in cupcakes mostly; however, am able to produce a number of delicious desserts and treats, such as cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, bars, trifles, cheesecakes, etc. I can do custom orders of any size, such as a dozen cupcakes for a small family birthday or hundreds of cupcakes and/or other desserts for dessert table set-ups at weddings, corporate events, and other large scale gatherings.
I think what sets me apart is the way that I care for every client I work for. My main focus/ goal is to provide excellence in every single treat that goes out of my house, from the baking to the packaging! I truly care about bringing joy, and deliciousness, to each and every client throughout the entire experience, starting from the first time we talk about what they are wanting, all the way through pick up/ delivery.
Flavor-wise, what sets me apart is that my desserts are not overly sweet and allows you to truly taste all of the different flavors in a cupcake, cookie, pie, cake, etc. versus being overpowered by sugar. It is one of the top compliments about my desserts!
Brand wise, I am most proud of the trust that has been built around the quality of every dessert sold. I bake everything from scratch, using mostly organic and high-quality ingredients, never cutting corners on any of my client’s orders. When clients see my name, they know it means completely homemade love in every bite.
I want readers to know that I can do a broad spectrum of services. As mentioned previously, I can do orders for small gatherings; and I can also do large events such as weddings, corporate events, baby showers, etc. I want my customers to have a joy-filled experience from beginning to end.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was pretty outgoing and always loved to have fun. My name means ‘laughter,’ and I have always been told that I live up to the meaning of my name – bringing laughter and joy to other people and in all situations. My interests included music, theater, reading, and spending time with others. I believe a love of hospitality was instilled in me by my mother & both of my grandmas. It was often modeled to me by those three women that loving others meant to cook, bake, or host people in your home. God has given me a passion for hospitality and loving others through feeding them, whether it’s a homecooked meal or a decadent dessert!
