Today we’d like to introduce you to RideMyVibe.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music has always been a part of me. I was playing drums before I could even read or write — it’s in my blood. I come from a musically gifted family, so the torch was passed early. I grew up in Morristown, Tennessee, right outside of Knoxville, and while I always felt connected to music, I didn’t know exactly how I’d fit into the industry at first.
In 2010, I started writing and recording songs as a hobby, but as time went on, I realized I wanted more. I spent a few years studying the business side of music, and that’s when I connected with Kev from Sony — my PR and eventually my mentor. In the early days, it was just the two of us fine-tuning everything and shaping the vision that would become RideMyVibe.
My first official release as RideMyVibe came in 2020 — a record with Don Trip, a Memphis legend. Before that, I’d released music under a different name, but this was the moment I stepped out fully as an artist. A year after moving to Atlanta, I dropped Tamed — and that changed everything. It showed people I wasn’t just behind the pen; I was a real artist with a real message.
From there, my songwriting career took off. I started working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B, and every room I stepped into became an opportunity to learn. I absorbed the game, the strategies, the branding — and used that knowledge to sharpen my own path as an artist.
Today, I own the majority of my master recordings and royalties. I’ve signed with 100% Global Recordings under exclusive distribution with Symphonic, and I’m in full control of my creative and business direction. That little boy from a small town who used to bang on drums in diapers? He bet on himself — and now he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be.
My story’s still being written. But that’s where the chapter stands for now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not smooth. It’s been rough — rougher than I’ve ever made it look. I’ve had people doubt me every step of the way. I’ve been locked into bad contracts by managers who didn’t have my best interest at heart. I’ve had major features never see the light of day because labels refused to clear them. There are songs sitting on my hard drive right now with some of your favorite artists — and the world may never hear them.
One of the hardest moments came in 2022. I almost walked away from songwriting entirely. I spent weeks working on an album for an artist and label — that project ended up going #1 and is now 2X Platinum — but they stole my work and told me they were going in “a different direction.” That was a wake-up call. In this industry, you have to protect your work and your value before anything else.
But I don’t sit in bitterness — I turn losses into lessons. Every setback sharpened me. Every closed door taught me how to build my own. The road’s been anything but smooth, but it’s made me who I am.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an R&B/hip-hop artist and songwriter. Up until this year, songwriting was my bread and butter — and it’s taken me into rooms with artists, labels, and producers like PaperRoute Empire, Don Trip, Qiuntellii, Seecoyyah, LALA, Blair Taylor, Sony Records, and more. I’ve built a solid name behind the scenes, but now I’m stepping fully into my own spotlight.
What I’m most proud of, though, is the work I’ve done with developing artists. Helping someone bring their vision to life and watching them grow — that hits different. Major artists come with bigger budgets, sure, but there’s a unique reward in helping shape a dream from the ground up.
What sets me apart is my work ethic. There are a lot of talented artists and writers out there — but when it comes to pace, precision, and results, I operate in a different tier. I’ve earned the nickname Mr. Get It Done because when you bring me in, you’re getting a fully polished, tailored record in one hour or less. That’s what keeps my phone ringing — not just the talent, but the timeliness and consistency.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the power shifting back into the hands of the people. With tools like AI, new distribution models, and smarter social media strategies, creatives are starting to realize they don’t need a major label to build real success — they just need discipline and vision.
The gap between dreaming and doing is getting smaller. Fans are more accessible. Content is easier to produce and push. And the workload is lighter if you know how to use the tools. As the tech keeps evolving, so will the industry — faster, leaner, and more artist-first.
I’m making sure I stay ahead of those shifts so I can not only move with the times but help others do the same. In the near future, knowledge will be worth more than money — and the average person will have the power to create, grow, and get paid without needing permission.
