Rising Stars: Meet Jana Harmon of Sevierville TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Harmon.

Hi Jana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been living in Sevierville, Tennessee since 2010, and my love for weddings sparked not long after, when I helped a caterer with a small elopement. That one moment lit a fire in me. I officially stepped into the wedding industry in 2015 as the lead wedding planner at the Lodge at Brothers Cove. That experience gave me a solid foundation and deep insight into what it takes to create meaningful, beautiful celebrations.

In early 2022, I took a leap and launched my own business—Rose and Ring Events. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey, watching my vision come to life and being able to serve couples with a personal touch that reflects both my experience and passion.

I also bring a unique blend of artistry to my work. I have a background in culinary arts, having earned my associate’s degree in 2013, which gives me a deeper appreciation for the dining experience at weddings. And as a violinist who’s been performing at ceremonies since I was 12, I understand the emotional power of music in setting the tone for a couple’s special day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s definitely been worth it. When I made the decision to start my own business in 2022, I was nervous—terrified, honestly. I was confident in my abilities as a wedding planner after seven years in the industry, but stepping into the unknown as a business owner was a whole different kind of challenge. I had to learn to trust myself in new ways—making the big decisions, building a brand from the ground up, and taking full ownership of every detail.

What got me through was the unwavering support of my family and friends, and the foundation I had built through years of hands-on experience. Once I found my rhythm, I realized I had been preparing for this step all along. Becoming both the owner and lead designer of Rose and Ring Events has stretched me, inspired me, and ultimately made me better at what I love doing most—bringing beautiful, meaningful weddings to life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a wedding planner, my job goes far beyond timelines and seating charts. On any given wedding day, I may find myself stepping into several different roles—whether it’s reworking floral arrangements on the fly because a bouquet went missing, jumping in to help the caterers bus tables, or coordinating with the DJ to keep the night moving seamlessly. Flexibility and quick thinking are essential, but so is calm, clear communication. My role is to ensure that every element comes together smoothly, and that the couple and their guests never have to worry about what’s happening behind the scenes.

At Rose and Ring Events, I specialize in creating weddings that feel both personal and luxurious—no matter the size. Whether it’s an intimate elopement for 15 or a grand celebration for 200, I put the same level of care into every detail. What sets me apart is my commitment to making each event feel truly one-of-a-kind. My background in culinary arts and music gives me a creative edge, and I believe those elements—thoughtful food, meaningful music, and cohesive design—are what elevate a wedding from beautiful to unforgettable.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. It’s a privilege to be part of one of the most important days in someone’s life, and I never take that for granted.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
So much of my creative inspiration comes from the incredible community of wedding professionals I’m lucky to be surrounded by here in East Tennessee. We truly live by the idea of community over competition. Whether it’s sharing ideas, referring clients, or just being there to encourage one another, this group has been such a big part of my growth—both professionally and personally.

Of course, I also turn to tools like Pinterest and Instagram, which are full of fresh ideas from across the country and around the world. They’re great platforms for staying inspired and exploring new trends in design, florals, fashion, and more. This business has stretched my creativity in amazing ways, and I’ve seen myself evolve with every event.

What really helps me do my best, though, is staying connected—to my peers, to the vision of each couple I work with, and to the passion that got me started in the first place.
