Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisabeth Feggans.
Hi Elisabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started as a transitional house for women in 2016. We began in a three bedroom house with eight beds. Over the years we have grown to the point that Never Alone has 15 apartments in an Apartment building. Each apartment houses three women. We also have a MAT House, which provides 12 beds for women. We work with women in all walks of life, substance abuse, domestic violence, the cycle of homelessness, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a difficult journey with many hard lessons learned along the way. We have had to close some locations and find new ones. We have lost many people we are close to due to the disease of addiction.. We have changed our program structure multiple times trying to find the best fit and be able to offer the highest rate of success to the women we serve.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the executive Director of Never Alone recovery. I am in charge of day-to-day operations for up to 48 women when all our beds are full. I specialize in helping women learn how to live instead of just survive. I try to help them replace unhealthy and untrue belief systems about themselves with the knowledge that they are amazing and capable of anything they put their minds to. I am very proud of the fact that we started out so small and have grown to be able to touch the lives of so many women. Some succeed and others fail, but when they do fail, I know that we have planted seeds that will take root and grow eventually and that they know who to reach out to or where to go when they decide to change their lives. I think that what sets me apart is I believe that someone can fall flat on their face 17 times and as long as they pick their selves up 18 times the sky is the limit.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going to the beach with my dad. Walking in the sand at sunrise and listening to the waves crash on the shore
