Conversations with Nick Noble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Noble

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My photo career began when my employer (Miami University, Oxford, OH – about 20 years ago) gave me a digital camera for a class project. I used it for the project then started taking pictures. I enjoyed it and it has continued. I now call myself a coastal Landscape and night sky photographer. I enjoy taking pictures during the quiet sunrises at the coast in NC and in the middle of the night with me and the stars.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a retired college teacher, I did not need my photography for income. The road has been fairly smooth. I go in directions that feel good at the time. Most paths have been successful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in coastal sunrise photography. I live in North Carolina and that has been the subject of the majority of my photography (this weekend, I took pictures of the local Oak Island Lighthouse as the sun rose beside it!). I love this type of photography, but I am equally proud of my night sky photography, where I photograph things like the moon, Milky Way and interestingly the International Space Station.

What’s next?
The future I=may be interesting. I may be spending some time in Ohio. No coastal piers and ocean sunrises. I’m thinking I might want to start looking a barns at sunrise and in the night!
