Meet Kaitlyn & Garett Baker of Gatlinburg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn & Garett Baker

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, we’re the Bakers. We are an award winning and published family photography business that is based out of Gatlinburg Tennessee. We will travel anywhere the adventure calls us. We truly enjoy working with our clients to create magical portraits that will last a lifetime!
We got started back in 2011 when Kaitlyn began second shooting weddings with Dave Laymon Photography. She was able to work with him for 2 years and then moved onto doing weddings with her husband Garett whom she trained. They then became a powerhouse team and tackled weddings and family portraits in the outer banks, NC and the Great Smoky Mountains. Their goal is to have a photoshoot in every state, national park, and then tackle out of country as well.
They also use studios, local state, and national parks to bring their portraits to life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing that is worth it comes easy. Starting a business is not for the weak, but is absolutely worth it! Especially when you are wanting to do something to create a legacy you can be proud of and pass down to your family. We of course owe every bit of this to God, and are very thankful that we get this opportunity!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We offer commercial photography, and specialize in portraits! Kaitlyn is the main photographer and editor for Smoke N’ Lenses. Garett is the second shooter, lighting guy, and tech specialist. We are known for family portraits and weddings around Gatlinburg and the Outer Banks. We hope to improve our wildlife photography to also be known for that as well. We are most proud of our quality and customer service. We strive to ensure every client is treated as uniquely as they are, and that they are provided with a professional but family like session. We promise this will be a photo session you always remember!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Our best advice for finding a mentor is to dive in the industry you’d like to be apart of and meet everyone! Customer connections still applies to other vendors especially ones you’d like to work with. You need to get out there and make yourself known. Networking is usually extremely fun and full of new friends. We find the pink bride and other big events are great resources to find clients but overall local meet and greets are wonderful for actually making industry friends and finding a mentor.
