Today we’d like to introduce you to Alona Skliar
Hi Alona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! My name is Alona Skliar, and I’m a UGC creator and fashion influencer based in Knoxville, USA.
My journey is all about discovering new passions, overcoming challenges, and turning them into something meaningful.
I’ve always loved creating content and, of course, fashion. I enjoy finding beautiful pieces in the most unexpected places and giving them new life by styling them with accessories. Even when I couldn’t afford expensive items, I discovered amazing pieces in thrift stores and sales.
Here’s a fun fact: I have a shirt I bought for just $2 at a secondhand shop. I don’t know its history or the journey it took before it found me. The shirt was two sizes too big, but I took it to a tailor who made it fit me perfectly. Every time I wear it, I get compliments and still admire the potential I saw in it from the very beginning. Even though I’ve never studied fashion professionally, my love for aesthetics and keen eye for detail helped me develop my own unique style.
As my passion for fashion grew, my blog naturally evolved into a fashion-focused platform. What started as a hobby gradually turned into UGC, where I could professionally combine my love for style and content creation. I made the decision to turn this into a source of income. Through trial and error, I’ve learned so much and achieved incredible results, including collaborations not only with brands but also with local businesses in my city—something I’m truly proud of.
One of my goals is to share my knowledge and make the journey easier for those who want to start in this industry. I believe that by sharing my experience, I can help others avoid the struggles I faced and achieve success much faster.
So many women are searching for themselves, and due to a lack of information, they simply don’t know that it’s possible to earn an income in this field. I want to show them that it’s achievable for everyone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m originally from Ukraine, and after Russia’s invasion of my country, I moved to Knoxville, USA. This move became a new chapter in my life, just as it did for many others in similar situations.
I knew I wanted to find something that would bring me not only income but also genuine enjoyment. I took a step back to reflect on my strengths and realized that content creation, photography, and fashion had always been an essential part of my life.
Of course, adapting wasn’t without its challenges, especially with the language barrier. But it was during those moments that I understood how important it is to stay focused on your goals. This is a skill I continue to develop every day.
Today, I combine my passion for fashion and content creation by collaborating with brands and local businesses. I truly believe that every experience is an opportunity for growth, and I want to inspire others to confidently pursue their own goals.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At some point, I started asking myself how I could monetize my passion and turn it into a steady source of income. That’s when I discovered UGC—user-generated content created for brands. I realized that UGC is everywhere because people trust real experiences and honest product reviews more than perfectly polished ads.
Interestingly, I was already doing this on my blog without even realizing it could be a profession. My love for sharing genuine recommendations and my creative approach quickly started paying off. But I’ll be honest—when I first started, I had no idea how this industry worked. Through trial and error, and by applying every bit of information I could find, I gradually began seeing results.
My sensitivity has become one of my greatest strengths. I truly believe that every brand is driven by people, and I always strive to understand the story and mission behind every product I work with. This personalized approach allows me to create content that not only meets expectations but often exceeds them.
Why does this work? My product reviews help potential customers see items as they really are—not through heavily edited images we often see on websites. I’ve always preferred seeing real, unfiltered product photos rather than idealized images of models. For example, when we shop on Amazon, the first thing we do is look for honest reviews with real photos. Relatable, right?
What makes you happy?
I truly believe that it’s the little things that create a sense of fulfillment.
Beyond work, what truly fills my heart is connecting with others. Whether it’s a positive comment from a follower, a meaningful conversation with a friend, or being surrounded by like-minded people, these moments remind me of what really matters.
I’m also happiest when I’m learning and growing. Progress—no matter how small—is a genuine source of happiness for me.
And coffee! Seriously, a good cup of coffee can be a game-changer. I always say, the little things really do matter!
That said, social life can be incredibly draining at times. That’s why maintaining balance is so important. For me, that balance comes through connecting with nature and staying active. Afterward, I feel an incredible surge of energy that fills me with inspiration, creates space for new ideas, and drives me to create.
I’m someone who thrives on contrast. Just as I’m drawn to the energy and interaction of social media, I also deeply value complete solitude. By maintaining that balance, I avoid burnout and can work at a more steady, sustainable pace.
It’s important to take breaks and step back when needed, but it’s just as important not to shut yourself off from others. Sharing energy with people is invaluable. My advice to anyone who’s just moved to a new city is to stay open to the world and the people around you—never isolate yourself.
It’s truly amazing how strangers can lift you up and help you move forward.
