Today we’d like to introduce you to Joie Lacourse
Hi Joie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I struggled severely with my self-confidence for many years. My relationships, intimate or not, suffered for it. I was NOT a nice person; therefore, I drew people into my circle that were on my same frequency and then wondered why they treated me the way they did.
As I got older, I slowly started to realize that I was the problem, not my friends. I had a bad attitude, and I needed to change it. But how?! Where do I start?! It was a very challenging process as I first needed to evaluate the relationships that I created, and the people in my circle that had no intention of growing with me. That wasn’t the hard part though. The hardest part was looking at myself in the mirror and convincing myself that I deserve better, I am worthy of better, and that I love myself and all my flaws. This meant sleepless nights while confronting old ghosts, it meant picking myself up off my bathroom floor after crying for hours, it meant talking to my doctor and starting a new journey to heal so I could become whole for what felt like the first time in my life.
When I finally decided it was time, my healing journey began with self-help book. This is where my process of picking up the pieces that I left on my bathroom floor started. I became “addicted” to the images I had in my head of my future self. That person is SO happy. She is SO loved, and SO admired. She is successful. I WANT TO BE HER!!
And voila… Here I am! I am constantly trying to be better than the person I was yesterday. I am constantly growing and loving myself every moment through it. I get to travel whenever I want to, I have AMAZING friends in my circle now, and I have built a trusting relationship with my family that is sustainable.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been the opposite of a smooth road. I’ve faced incredible challenges over my lifetime from poverty and family addiction to domestic violence and the loss of loved ones. My greatest challenge was acknowledging my own role in each situation and accepting the ones that were out of my control.
But since I have embraced curiosity instead of judgement in most every situation, NOW everything seems smooth and has been for the last 4 years. Many things still haven’t gone my way, but I take responsibility for that, or I let it go.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Anchor the Joy?
I am a certified Life Coach with a focus on clarity. I help people get clear on what is holding them back from living their best life and letting go of what no longer serves them without feeling guilty.
What sets me apart from other Life Coaches is that I am also certified in the CIJ Clarity Catalyst course by Stanford University. This course is available in 3 forms; Insight for Life for Kids & Teens, Clarity Catalyst for Adults, Culture Catalyst for Companies & Corporations. I’m extremely proud to have taught the Insight for Life course in a middle school in my home state of New Hampshire for grades 5-8. Each course can also be taught privately one on one, or in groups and in any setting.
What I want readers to know about my brand is the meaning behind my company name. Anchor, in coaching, means to remember why you want something. What you are working so hard for. We all need to find those motivating factors that help give us drive to move forward with empowerment. I chose the word Joy, not just because my name “Joie” means joy in French, but also because isn’t that what ALL of us would love to feel ALL the time?! I know I love feeling joy every day!
I have been through a lot, I’ve seen a lot, I’ve lost a lot. But I have done the work to heal. Because of this, my coaching comes from a place of empathy and understanding on what it takes to walk through your darkest days and know that there is another side that is truly beautiful.
Along with the 3 Clarity Catalyst courses, I also offer 5 different 3 month habit change programs to find clarity:
That which is greater
Love
Life
Career
Money
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
What is a Life Coach? Within the next 5-10 years I see this question being answered more and more. I see the holistic healing modalities becoming more popular. The more people realize that they can actually heal their own aches and pains just by changes their daily mindset and diet, the bigger shift we will see in the health industry. I see Life Coaches working closely with Therapists and other Doctors to obtain the same goals for our clients.
