Daily Inspiration: Meet Besiah Fahngon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Besiah Fahngon.

Hi Besiah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Liberian, born to Liberian immigrants. I moved to Tennessee when I was very young and was raised in East Tennessee. Being raised in a Liberian household, culture and relationships are fundamental core values. The connections established are carefully cultivated, and there is genuine support and love for one another. We show this love and tell our stories through events and gatherings, which has always been an important piece of my identity. When I went to University, I started in the public health realm but got a position as the Vice President of the National African Student Association. From there, my passion grew from marketing, and I realized I had an affinity for creative strategies, branding, and community building. I am the Chief Executive Officer of Kaifa, an experiential marketing firm. I bring Kaifa a vast amount of experience in event planning and project and campaign management, combined with years of providing general marketing services to build brand loyalty. I have managed marketing strategies for client events from the initial ideation to managing the actual event. This includes developing creative strategies, coordinating the event planning activities and logistics, and providing event analytics to understand the client’s return on investment. In addition to my event planning and management experience, I’m experienced in managing social media marketing to enhance my client’s presence on many platforms to increase their engagement metrics. I also demonstrate expertise in curating strategic social media marketing events and conversations for clients. I have created content graphics and media for clients, effectively utilizing their brand, colors, and corporate messages in a scheduled manner.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were some challenges in the beginning. Mainly, there were some growth areas with networking and demonstrating my skills. It has been amazing meeting people in the region and connecting more with the area on business development. Because my business is a new concept to my area, I had to fill a gap in intricately explaining my business, the value it contributes to business growth, and then demonstrating my talents. I’ve since been able to nail this process and continue creating innovative experiences for businesses to connect with clients.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Excite and Engage. That is my mantra. A Kaifa event is more than a live event or pop-up. As a creative entity, I value the thought it takes to bring a brand vision to life. I support that vision and provide an audience that will help you grow and expand. I established Kaifa Events with the intention of curating marketing experiences/events on behalf of businesses. This truly creates genuine relationships between them and their ideal customers/clients. You are your business, and as we know, networking works! It’s all about being present with your message, and I’m here every step of the way to help you do that. I do this through designing creative strategies, organizing event/experiential logistics and details, and focusing on ROI or return on your investment. This could be anything from conferences, networking events, seminars, and grand openings, to more creative strategies such as influencer events and giveaways.

My process for sparking creativity:
We help to create Brand Persona and introduce that persona through an event. This is the key to creating a community around your brand. What would it look like if your business woke up one day as a human being? Where would they go? What would they wear? Are they busy or laid back? Serious and professional, or do you have streaks of green hair because they’re edgy and different? Map out this person and what they look like as your business. In this day and age, people are buying based on how a business or organization makes them feel. Think of powerful brands like Nike and Apple. We can see how easy it is to visualize their brand in human form. This exercise is so important because, as people, we connect with other people, especially if we feel they share the same thoughts, values, opinions, and beliefs. This connection is invaluable to your business and adds value to your product/service. And a business with humanistic qualities has the ability to make people feel.

2-step spark:

  1. First, ask the wrong questions. Don’t ask questions within the parameters of what you know; ask what is impossible! It’s a surprise to see what is capable and possible in this present day. Think of everything that exists today. Someone once had to ask an impossible question to make it possible.
  2. Second, consider what you accept and what life would be like not to take it. We accept certain things in life, such as gravity and tires blowing out. My car tire blew out, and my thoughts in the days after were that I couldn’t believe we hadn’t made an affordable tire that is 100% guaranteed against blowouts.

So let’s reject the standard. Think of a world where we all collectively chose not to accept tire blowouts, and that’s where we no longer have tires that blow out. A solution would be developed based on a newly created demand. Think outside the standard. At Kaifa, we excite and engage by taking this information about your business and providing a marketing channel. We can show your vision through a variety of events and continue to deliver on creating loyal customers and clients.

What are your plans for the future?
I am looking to become a full-service event management company with the upcoming addition of event venues. I am considering different locations and am excited about this expansion in the works! I am also excited about branching into concerts and festivals to create and assist with. These memories are unique, and we would love to be a part of the experience.
