Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Brown.
Hi Cody, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I finished high school here in Seymour around 2010. I soon followed the typical college path and started on some general education courses to become a Chiropractor. Still, after becoming a board of the college, I needed excitement. Thus, I joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on January 19, 2016, after 4 years of active service. I then moved back home with my wife and first daughter. I worked construction for a bit and decided to utilize my VA GI bill to go back to Walters State Community College, where I obtained an Associate of Physical Therapy Assistant degree. I transitioned after 4 years as a practicing clinician in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy. I have always been in the line of service from my country to healthcare. And now in real estate, serving my community. I’m a Realty Executives Smoky Mountains agent with The Collins Group, working with all types of people, from first-time home buyers to investors, and even helping people find affordable rentals. I now have 3 children and have been married for nearly a decade. I enjoy spending time with my family, anything active such as outdoors/working out, building my real estate business, helping consumers, and investing in vacation rentals in the Smokies.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has been anything other than smooth. My wife and I always joke about choosing the hardest way to do things. The struggles include my wife giving birth 2 times while I was in PTA school to me and working 2 jobs while getting board certified as a therapist. And I am now trying to build my credibility and reputation for an honest business helping people in a challenging and recovering real estate market after COVID-19.
We’ve been impressed with Realty Executives Smoky Mountains, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m with Realty Executives Smoky Mountains – The Collins Group. We just opened our new office in the heart of Seymour, TN. I came to the team after a short stent mentoring under another agent in Maryville, TN, to further my career and continue to learn and create more opportunities. In real estate, relationships can take you very far, but they take time to foster and maintain. I wouldn’t say I have a specialty; I am comfortable with almost any client as I have been on the other side of the closing table as a consumer. I also enjoy helping people who would like to start investing. After all, the Smokies is one of the most popular drive to destinations in the USA. As far as our brand goes, we are exceptionally team-oriented and care deeply about helping our clients and backing up each other on the team when life throws a few curves. We will tackle any real estate-related need, and it’s more of the question of who, not how. When faced with the unknown, we lean on preferred vendors and relationships, which has yielded excellent results for our team.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
It takes work to start, so make sure financially you are expecting to put some money into your business no matter what entrepreneurial endeavor you decide to tackle. Find a good mentor; there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel. Find the people who have been “driving” for a while and catch a ride. You can either pay with time or money; you get to choose. We believe in taking care of others and we know we will be taken care of.
