Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Villanueva.
Quincy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I became in love with the idea of being a performer when I was 8, when I watched Janet Jackson on TV in the 90s. It was amazing and something about her made me fantasize how cool it would be to perform in front of people. I was never a shy kid, I remember I would just go up in front of family and friends at parties and just start dancing and performing. That’s when I knew it was my destiny. I loved everything about it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Every road always has potholes and people who vote you down and wish you not to excel, wish you not to succeed because they’re envious. I’ve had people in my life tell me I’ll never be on tv, that I should just quit because it’s all luck and I’m not that lucky, that I’m not pretty enough and everything terrible you could say to a young girl chasing her dreams. Kinda crazy that I did used to listen to those people, but somehow I always came back to acting, as if it always drew me back in like a magnetic field.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started acting at the age of 18, I shot a pilot for an old friend who was the producer. Then I did this game show back in 2008, and won $100k just for telling the truth. And the sad thing about it was that, the producers of the show made me look like such a bad person, taking my personal life’s bad moments into a live tv drama, so of course I had some people turn on me and tell me I was such a terrible person. But the thing about it was that, I was so hurt from my ex cheating and lying to me, and abusing me, and nobody knew that part. The audience just judged me based on what the show told them. I just went there to tell the truth and win money for telling it. I’ve been in about 8 true crime series, reenacting victims of murder and crimes of passions. It has been a really cool journey doing those, to tell the story of those who can’t be here today to tell their stories. I’m very proud of those work I did, working with other great actors and expanding our own versatility of acting. I’ll never forget that those shows opened many doors for me.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is how I treat others because that’s how they will perceive me and in return, I will receive love back. I’ve never been a confrontational person so when someone does me wrong, I just let the universe take care of it. I always take it that if I ever intentionally hurt someone, it’s gonna come back to me 10x worse. So, best thing to do is just do good for others, help others when they need it, and don’t expect anything in return. Just be a good human being and do my part.
