Today we’d like to introduce you to Chania Arnold.
Hi Chania, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A young mom entrepreneur turns her baby girl into a mini boss at 3 years old. I had Royalty when I was 18 years old, and I had just graduated from high school. I knew that being a single mom would come with its own challenges. But like anything, how you face them is solely on you! I have always wanted to make sure I gave my daughter things no one could take away from her- a legacy, lessons, and love. I used her love of lip gloss & being glamorous to build her this foundation. By using the profit to create her financial security, she will know and appreciate entrepreneurship at a young age.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacle was figuring out life as a teen mom. Here I am, 4 years later still trying to “figure” life out. I knew I wanted my daughter to have something! Money isn’t everything but a chance at success is. Every day it hits me of how “not ready” I was. I wasn’t ready to give my daughter everything that I had, growing up in a two parent household. I grew up into more of a stable home than she was born into. For me, this lip gloss line is not just lip gloss… it’s the beginning of her future! Since the first lip gloss I made, I invested in it. I invested in the trial and errors, and I still do. I invest my funds into each ingredient, tube, label, everything. And every dollar from a customer has gone into a savings account for my daughter. I literally took something as simple as lip gloss and turned it into what may be part of her college fund or even her first investment into the stock market one day!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think I’m most known for being there! I love helping others, and knowing that people can depend on me! Besides mommy-ing & running my daughter’s small business, I am in school full-time aiming for my Bachelors in Psychology and Bible & Theology and a minor in Business Entrepreneurship. I also work full-time as a social worker, and I volunteer for Girl Talk Inc., as a mentor to a wonderful 14 year old girl. I am also working on my own non-profit organization to assist with the challenges that student parents face daily, & I’m hoping to soon publish my interactive self-growth guide for women. I am most proud of my willingness to keep going. Life is hard, and every day is another go at it… and sometimes that’s scary!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Transformation Church’s podcasts help me do my best in life! I make it apart of my weekday routine to listen to Mike Todd or one of his guest speakers, at least once a day. Many times, Royalty gets a good 20 minutes of the sermon on the way to school in the mornings too!
