Check Out Jessica Hyde’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hyde.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl, I was always fascinated with Art. I started painting at the age of 10 and my passion for painting grew into a passion for constructing beauty, as I began Cosmetology school in 2011. I was the small-town girl with big city dreams. I took an opportunity to work for MAC Cosmetics immediately after graduating and I was instantly placed in fashion events, working backstage as a makeup artist.

Right away, I felt at home and knew this was exactly where I was meant to be. I continued to work onsite with other photographers, and fashion events and would take my own photos of makeup looks that I did along the way, completely unaware that this would eventually develop into a business all of its own. Clients began requesting photo shoots along with makeup and that’s when my whole experience pretty much branded itself.

I was now a Creative Director that would put together and style all my own hair, makeup, wardrobe, and photography. I knew I wanted to take my business to the next level so I began networking like crazy, connecting with models and artists all over the country. I would reach out to other makeup artists that I looked up to for one on one classes and ended up flying from NYC to LA, learning from top celebrity makeup artists, including artists of Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez.

This networking led me to opportunities like doing makeup for designers like B. Michael America in New York Fashion Week, and films working on many well-known celebrity actors. Everywhere I go, I meet people and talk about what I do. Now having had my own fashion show two years in a row, I work with major fashion brands to create content that gives fashion inspiration to my audience.

I absolutely love what I do and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities that seem to just fall into my lap. I plan on continuing to learn and grow my business, as I make the world a more beautiful place to be!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s true what they say, that nothing good comes easy.

20-hour shoot days, investing in high-end beauty products, giving out a lot of free services just to build clientele, and managing the business by myself were just a few of the struggles at the beginning!

But with struggle comes beauty in lessons. I take every struggle and turn it into a full learning experience and wouldn’t take any of it back for the world!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It’s hard to put what I do into one category so I like to call myself a Creative Director. I create a vision for each client and execute an entire photoshoot from start to finish while doing hair, makeup, and photography myself.

I work with clients to understand exactly what they hope to accomplish during their session and help them discover parts of themselves that always existed, but they didn’t know how to bring out themselves. I’m known for taking your everyday girl next door and making her into a fierce, high fashion model.

What I’m most proud of is the feeling I give my clients when they see themselves and see their photos. Bringing self-confidence alive is my life mission. I think what sets me apart from others is my hard work, determination, and faith in reaching my goals. I won’t stop until I have everything I’ve ever dreamed of,

Any big plans?
My future plans include traveling, educating, hosting makeup, and photography courses while connecting with larger brands and agencies to grow my business.

I’m currently in the process of opening a huge creative space that will allow other artists to create their vision in the space, as well!
