Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Sepulveda.
Hi Natalia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’m originally from San German, Puerto Rico, and moved to Orlando, Florida at the age of 12. I studied abroad, served in leadership teams, defended a thesis, and completed a master’s in Spanish and a Certificate in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Central Florida. After becoming a mom, I decided to stay home with my little ones and work from home. I worked as a freelance translator and entered the world of children’s book translations.
To this date, I have translated and edited over 200 children’s books and resources. I truly love this work, and I love the fact that I can do this while taking care of my children. In 2020, While reading to my children and seeking faith-based bilingual resources, I noticed there were almost non-existent. This motivated me to publish my first children’s book, “Kai The Missionary Sea Turtle| Kai la tortuga marina misionera” a Christian bilingual (English-Spanish) children’s book about missions.
Through my book, I encourage children to be bilingual, while bridging the language gap of many families here in the U.S. Kai, also encourages children to share the love of Jesus with everyone they know and I am honored to hear so many wonderful testimonials of children loving the book, Kai has been used in 2 missions trips in Honduras, just last year, as well as, it has been presented at libraries, schools, churches, and in homeschooling classrooms.
It has truly been an honor to write this book and know it has changed lives. I am the owner of Bilingual Lifestyle Publishing, Vice President of Panem Project (a media company that supports missionaries around the world), and I am currently working on the second Kai book.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a mom of 2 small children and another one on the way has helped me enjoy this journey as a children’s book author, translator, and editor so much more. And it also reminded me to slow down and take my time to enjoy family.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
