Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolina Pearsall.
Hi Nicolina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started a family and newborn professional photography business about 10 years ago. It was about 4 years ago, a coworker told me that she had a boudoir session done with a local photographer. She showed me her album and she started to tear up. She stated how she never thought she could look this beautiful. She spoke of her experience how it was empowering, motivating, and just what she needed. It was at that moment that I wanted to learn more.
If I could provide a service to women that gave them the confidence and self-esteem boost they needed, I wanted to help make that happen. I started out by photographing friends who were recently divorced and needed that pick me up, and a friend who met her goal with her weight loss journey. They also teared up. I decided it was time to invest. In education, posing, lingerie types, etc. I became a student in an online boudoir Facebook group and purchased many guides. I was working as an RN at the time. Fast forward 4 years and we moved from upstate NY to Knoxville, TN.
We have been here for 8 months now. I have taken a break with my nursing right now to become successful as a full-time photographer. I still photograph newborns and families but hope one day to go solely boudoir. It’s a passion of mine to help empower women. Help them find their spark again. And give them the luxury, pampering experience they deserve. I have worked very hard to get where I am today, and I can only go up from here.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I lived in NY, I grew up there and knew many people. I had a constant flow of clients. 1-2 a week. Being new to Knoxville with so many other wonderful photographers, I want to become known. I want to stand out.
I know this will take time but I am motivated to establish myself here. Right now, it’s a struggle because I am getting about 1 client a month. But again… I need to get my name out there. I am trying to market myself like crazy!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in newborn, family, and boudoir photography.
I am proud of my past accomplishments. I have been published in 3 magazines, one of them being internationally known.
– Child Couture Magazine.
-International Kid Model Magazine.
-Bare Bones Boudoir Magazine.
I have reviewed awards through Summerana Photography Academy.
What sets me apart is that I’m always challenging myself. I do keep up with the trends but I do like to think outside of the box with my creativity when it comes to photography.
Also, what sets me apart is that I don’t just offer digital images. Photographs are meant to last a lifetime, be passed down through generations. Not lost inside your phone. I offer professionally printed photo albums, canvases, and larger mounted or metal wall art.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I loved going on vacations with my family. You can always buy things and objects, but you can never take away a family memory. My parents always made trips special.
