Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Fernandes.
Hi Lucas, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My life in Knoxville started in December of 2019, just a month before the Covid lockdown. I am Brazilian, and at that point, we (me and my husband) got an opportunity to move and live here. It was a great professional and cultural opportunity. And so, we came.
What we did not expect ever, it was after one and half months, the world would change. Living life in another country, with no family, no friends, and no interactions was at least scary, but it was when everything changed, and my story starts.
Using my knowledge in advertising and my missing from my relatives and friends in Brazil, I decided to create an Instagram profile and a Youtube channel, to share my life and my experiences abroad. The best way to be connected and share my life closely as I always am.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, of course not. We have passed through a lot of struggles along the way. First: To adapt ourselves to another culture. This is not easy at all. But it was worth it.
Second: Be divided between being happy and being safe with the vaccine here, and pray for the Brazilians to be vaccinated as soon as possible too. Third: My relatives had Covid and the borders were closed. My only thought: “Was it the last time I saw them”.
Fourth: Loneliness. I never felt like that. I was just 34 years old and I love adventures, and challenges, I was in the darkness and something should change at that point.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Advertiser, and I love to work with creativity and the arts. My passion for colors and body expression has been alive since I was a kid. During the 90’s we have seen all the technological transformations: Radio, CD, Vinyl, Walkman, Discman, etc. And since then I was always curious about the possibilities and sensibility that each of them could bring for our sensations.
Music, Guitar, Keyboard, Theater, Drawings, and Advertising University were my steps to bring me here. Being the professional I am. At my regular job, I am known as the guru of supermarkets… During my career, I had more than 20 supermarket clients, and for all of them, I have changed the concept of just product and price.
Bringing more information about the products, world causes, and simple daily tips. Talking about my extra job (I call it my creative job) I put out all my feelings through the photos and videos. With no guide. I like to use my creativity to tell a story.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I can see myself working just on digital. Day by day, bringing more videos, photos and share my life with the major audience. The main public is Brazilians, but I also can do the opposite way: Bringing and showing Brazil to Americans.
