Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Bond.
Hi Samantha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m so proud of how I started my photography journey. It was truly nothing but interest and wanting to be creative for fun. I never got into photography with the intention of starting a business. It just fell into my lap honestly. I asked my best friend, Kayla, if I could take her photos in October 2017 to have some fun. I posted the final photos to Facebook after I had edited them. I was so proud of them at the time but they were not good at all. Haha!
After someone saw my photos, they asked if I could take their daughter’s high school senior photos. I charged a whole $50. Haha! After I posted those, someone asked me I would take their senior photos. After a few sessions, I decided to try making a business out of it because it was a lot of fun. I was about to graduate from nursing school when my photography started.
I was an RN for 3 years working in the ER mainly and then the ICU when COVID hit. In February of this year, I officially quit nursing and have been pursuing photography full-time. It has been so incredible and such a huge blessing!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has been a very smooth road for me. Of course, there are hiccups in the road, but I have been so blessed with some amazing clients that are so graceful with me when things don’t go perfectly.
From the start, I tried my best to stay educated on how to properly do things with my photography business. Thankfully, I was able to avoid a lot of issues many new photographers encounter. This job is really the biggest blessing I never knew I’d receive.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional photographer that specializes in weddings, couples, and seniors. I am most known for my weddings as I’ve been very blessed to book many in my area. I am also known for my editing style and posing. I try to keep my editing natural with a little bit of moodiness.
I want my clients to look back on their photos in 20+ years and still think they are gorgeous photos. I truly want my work to stand the test of time and not just be trendy. I also think my ability to be myself around my clients sets me apart. I am very professional but also just fully me 100% of the time. It’s an amazing thing.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is definitely all the days and hours spent on the softball field. I met my childhood best friend on the T-ball field, my dad was my coach/assistant coach for so many years, and I truly had the time of my life. I played every year from t-ball age to my senior year of high school and I miss it all the time.
