Rising Stars: Meet Kaitlyn Holloway of Green Mountain, NC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Holloway.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised in a creative environment. I grew up going to craft shows and festivals that my mom still sets up at to this day. Creativity has always coursed through me. That helped me start up a business when I needed to.

When I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter, I got covid and my husband was forced to quarantine from work with me. We were without a paycheck for more than 3 weeks. We needed to come up with some way to make ends meet. That’s when we decided to start a little craft business. We found supplies around the house and started making anything we could.

Fast forward a couple of years, our business had grown tremendously and so had our family! I was expecting my son in 2023 and we had just become vendors in a local shop. It was at this time that we decided to make Christ the center of our business. He was always a part of it, but we wanted to create a sort of ministry. We wanted our products to be a light to those who needed it. We wanted to show the love of Jesus to anyone who may not have seen it before.

Now we have two booths in one store, a third booth in another location coming, and a website. We are so blessed to be where we are today. We went from struggling newlyweds with a baby on the way to a family of four with a small business. I am able to stay home and be the homemaker I’ve always dreamed of becoming. I want to encourage others the way I’ve found encouragement through the years. Our goal is to use Carolina Holler as a light and we pray we’re able to help anyone we can.

We’re constantly blown away by the love and support we receive and can’t thank our family, friends, and customers enough for helping us get to this point!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road. We’ve seen the same hardships as many people in our community- from covid, to financial trouble, to facing the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, to not knowing what will come next. What we do know is who holds tomorrow and how we can use that to encourage everyone who comes across our business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It took us about 3 years to really find our style. We make candles, laser engravings, wood decor, car accessories, hats and lots of other little things. We also make natural care items such as laundry detergent, cleaner, body spray, and lipgloss. We are best known for our t-shirts though. I create my own designs and offer unique tees that can’t be found anywhere else. I make a lot of designs for the homemaker that have become very popular. We’re set apart by that style that we’ve worked so hard to create.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I didn’t have perseverance, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I thought about quitting so many times, but I decided to continue on despite every obstacle I had to face.
