Conversations with Joshua Farley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Farley.

Hi Joshua, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Face Tracers Productions is a collaborative effort of artists, musicians, producers, and poets who have come together, combining our capacities of love, mind, and spirit, to contribute to the universal art community while simultaneously fostering honest work for passionate artists from all spheres. By means of our visual creations, our music, our literature, and our general joie de vivre, this is how we wish to contribute our verse to the song of existence.

We officially launched our group effort in spring 2022 and have since been curating diverse music events across the Carolinas, ranging from EDM shows to punk shows to multigenre events we like to call the Genre Clash. Our motto is “art for the sake of art,” and we stick by it, as well as our commitment to the local art scene.

We intend on growing and expanding our reach via baby steps until we are curating our own national music festivals, which is our ultimate goal as it is an ideal means of attracting like-minded artists from all over the world. Face Tracers began as a collaborative effort, and it will remain as such until the end of time!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest obstacles have been in regard to money-hungry corporations and individuals that suck the life out of the local and regional music scene. We quickly learn who to cut off and who not to work with within this industry.

Our team refuses to let greed find a place among us and we are earnest about paying our talent significantly more than we pay ourselves by the end of each night. Artists are taken advantage of far too often in this business and, as artists ourselves, we remain dedicated to the cause.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a group of musicians and artists that curate events across the Carolinas, with a major focus on the Charlotte region. We are known for our diverse event catalog, which includes raves, punk shows, multigenre events, and more.

We are relatively new to the scene, but our reach is expanding quicker than we know what to do. We are passionate about representing art and music from all corners, which explains why the majority of our events feature multiple genres back-to-back.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Do it for passion. If your business is driven by greed in any way, you will crash and burn. Passion drives the purest intentions.
